It has a spacious gallery and performance space. Limited parking during major events.

Phenomenal performances, production, and experience. They present performances in their rehearsal space - which is in a converted warehouse building, near a few popular contemporary art galleries - Francois Ghebaly Gallery, and Night Gallery. You can usually tour the current show at Ghebaly while waiting for the performances to start. The troupe is diverse and super talented, and a total joy to watch. There is parking in a lot behind the space, and along the street. It's in an industrial part of town.

I just saw the show, Flex, by Jay Carlon. It was incredible! The space itself is beautiful and quite perfect. It's intimate with maybe 4 large rows of stadium style seating. I can't wait to go for another show

As intimate a performance venue as you can possibly find for an art form that relies of physical space above all else, L.A. Dance Project's company of dancers make the most of it with their nimble, electric modern choreography. The production I saw, "I fall, I flow, I melt," was conceived by the troupe's Artistic Director, Benjamin Millepied to music by both J.S. Bach and composer David Lang and, in many places, the music and the choreography both seemed to indeed flow and melt into each other. The dancers (of all genders and races, inspiringly) are, as you'd expect, talented and athletic, and their moves at various points make your jaw drop. The basic but effective lighting effects were inventively staged using flexible banks of LED lights that were manipulated by the dancers themselves during the between-act musical interludes, showing a very DIY focus on this troupe: these are no prima donnas, but a hungry group of young artists who just want to put on a good show. The seating consists of both high-school gym style bleachers and rows of chairs at the perimeter of the dance floor. The floor seating was definitely the closest I'd ever experienced a dance performance. When what seemed like the entire group of dancers flocked into the corner nearest me like a gaggle of sweaty geese at one point, I almost wanted to whisper thanks for the work they were creating in front of our eyes, but them quickly leapt away again and my chance was lost. But LA Dance Project proves that modern dance is indeed one of the most physical (and beautiful) art forms out there. Recommended for dance fans.
