LaBagh Woods is a great option in the city for picnics, and long walks! There are a variety of trails, both paved and unpaved. Trails are easy to follow, and the woods are so large you could easily spend a day walking the park. The stream running through is beautiful, and the wildlife and native plants are beautiful. Their facilities (bathrooms and picnic areas) are well maintained - but still park bathrooms (you might see a spider or two). Parking is abundant. This is a great place to visit if you’re on the north/northwest side of the city and want to escape into nature and forget you’re still in Chicago.

There are plenty of shelter areas that were open and you can reserve different areas for a private event. Plenty of parking at the many, many groves and open fields. If you’re looking to hike this is close to the expressway and residential area so you will still hear the highway at some spots. Other than that it was a wonderful wooded area. We even ran into a deer who was really nice and docile and majestic!
