Do Not Obey In Advance

I have been a long time fan of farmer's markets, having patronized them in 3 states and 2 countries... but i have to say i never go to this one any more even though it's a few blocks from my house. There's just a bad vibe to it.. I don't feel like lingering. Lines for many stalls are very long and it's very crowded to even look at the stuff. Many of the vendors are not friendly and don't want to talk to you about their produce. People seem stressed and not relaxed. There is rarely any live entertainment though props to the person always offering kids activities. Also while it's nice to have food trucks, many have no connection to local food and are loud and polluting with their generators. The prices are high for a low income area and even though I have SNAP match AND Fresh Bucks, it's still unaffordable and honestly not that much better than a supermarket. When I lived in Portland, both Lents and King farmers markets had prices in line with the socio-economic realities of the surrounding areas, and I still have fond memories of both, though I haven't lived there in over a decade.

This place is a block from our home and I absolutely love it! Every THURSDAY from 3-7 I believe. The freshest veggies and fruits. Kids love going. We took grandma to it this last Thursday to check it out and she loved it. There was one kiosk w/ a lady their that was not so sweet to the kids, but other than that, it’s a kid friendly place where they always have something going on for the kids, making cucumber cars, coloring, and tons more arts and crafts every week.

Great farmers market option, lots of wine and cider tastings, and a decent selection of food. Note that 28th st is blocked off so plan driving/parking accordingly. There was only one flower vendor when I was there (Blongs, I think?). Very kid and family friendly relative to some other markets - there is a park area off to the side.
