Beautiful garden right in the city. Peaceful setting even in a bustling city. The garden stays much cooler than the outside city and the noise is buffered by the birds and water. With plenty of opportunities to sit and enjoy the scenery, make sure you check out the events. We took the free tour which was very interesting. There is even a Tea House and gift shop.

I visited the garden today on May 17, very impressed by the similarities between this garden and the one in Suzhou, China. Flowers are blooming in this mid/late spring period, the Japanese cheese wood fragrance reminds me of home. I didn’t try the tea house, but that’s probably the best spot in the garden for enjoying Chinese tea. They have a couple of vendors in the garden, but I don’t know if they are regulars or not. They had Pacific Islanders performing today, also a cultural heritage learning session. Quite an active center for cultural sharing in the heart of town, close to both Union Station and the river bank, very central location and easily accessible by public transit.
