This is a really nice spot for al fresco dining along the Hudson River, near Brookfield Place. They serve excellent cocktails (right now, they have a Honey Deuce - vodka, Chambord, lemonade in a US Open glass that's yours to keep!) and a great brunch on the weekends. We had the brioche French toast (cooked to a delicious slightly crispy finish) and eggs Benedict (their homemade Hollandaise sauce is amazing). We were seated quickly outside and out waitress was friendly and very efficient. She checked on us a couple of times during the meal, which is sometimes rare when a place gets busy. The views of the Hudson on a sunny, warm day were the perfect accompaniment to our meal. This was our third visit there, and we will keep coming back!

Came in on a rainy evening. The appeal of this place is most likely the outdoor seating, but because of the weather, we chose to sit indoors. The room in which we were seated has kitchy images on practically every inch of wallspace. Comfortable round booths, allowing for a good conversation and a bit of privacy. Waiter let us settle in before taking our order, but the guy with the water filled our glasses immediately. The portions seemed a bit small in this all you can eat era. The bar steak au poivre was tasty, but a couple of more slices would have helped. The lobster was also bit small. The creamed spinach had great flavor and consistency. All in all, it didn't quite meet my expectations for a bistro in a French marketplace in the Financial District. I would most likely return on a sunny evening to sit outside and sample the appetizers. A-1 service, though!

I picked up cupcakes from Le District for my kids, and to my shock, we found a broken acrylic nail baked into one of them (see attached photo). This isn’t just gross, it’s a serious choking hazard, especially for young children. This kind of contamination clearly shows that proper food safety practices are not being followed. If gloves were being worn, and worn correctly, this simply wouldn’t happen. If you’re thinking of buying food here, especially for kids, I strongly urge you to reconsider. Hygiene should never be optional.
