Great small dishes to share. Both indoor and outdoor curbside seating across the Willamette River were available. We chose to sit outside, and it was a pleasant experience. Although, I loved the indoor decor as well. Shout out to Andre! We were celebrating our anniversary, and he made it special with complementary bubbly by the glass. Great service by everyone. Happy place, and I will go back anytime.

It was my first time visiting Portland, and I’m so glad I chose Lechon! Everyone at the restaurant was warm and welcoming. I accidentally ordered a salad that turned out to be spicy (which I couldn’t eat due to a health condition), and our server Tyler handled it with so much care and professionalism. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. I’m really grateful for the experience – it made me feel the kindness and friendliness of the people here in Portland. I’d definitely love to come back next time I’m in town!

I scheduled a surprise reservation at this restaurant a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my partner's birthday, and the staff made note of the occasion to make our first experience at Lechon extra special. They have a lot of delicious shareable dishes here to choose from, including a fairly extensive vegetarian-friendly menu. I'd say the restaurant's formatting is well-suited for a duo to get the best bang for your buck. And, I must say, the quality of food that you get for the price is fantastic. You can taste creative blends of flavors in each dish that comes out of the chicken. My partner and I are still fondly thinking of the fried chicken and brisket empanadas, in particular. The atmosphere is lovely without feeling overly pretentious, taking place inside a historical building. I'm not rich, but I didn't feel out of place. The service is attentive and waiters are ready to answer any questions and give you what you need as a customer.

The jicama salad blew me away — it’s incredibly flavorful, crunchy, and has a great balance of texture and taste. The bone marrow is rich with a nice smoky flavor. The beef short rib, however, wasn’t particularly special — it reminded me of generic barbecue and was a bit too chewy for my taste. Overall, it was a great experience.

Made a Friday 4 PM reservation 2 days before (all that was left). our family of four with two late teenagers is there a few minutes early. as the second group in the door we were walked through a really cool brick bar and seating area with lively music....into a sterile gray atrium by the bathroom hallway without music. it was like a totally different restaurant. I should have refused the seat but was not really paying attention at first as I was in the back of the group. no atmosphere back there. toward the end a family with toddlers and some large groups were seated near us but the front filled right up with other parties of four. Apparently we didn't fit the right image for the place. most of the food was good. the baocitos were awesome. the chicken bites were excellent . Drinks were ok. the shaved squash dish and jicama salad weren't to my taste. The waitress was kinda fake and grumpy, much cooler than her customers with the big wallets. recommendation: make that back area feel like part of the restaurant with the same decor and music or don't use it at all until the place is hopping. The family style sharing concept was kind of weird with some expensive entree type dishes (steak) really suited for an individual. this concept was pulled off very well at Ox two nights earlier. Too many options in Portland to try again for the price.
