I went here today at 11:15am , the store was closed when on google it clearly stated that on Tuesday they open at 11am, the phone number does not work, I walk across the street and ask if this place is still in business , and the people told me yes, one lady stated he comes at 12pm, I returned at 12:15pm store not open , the lady across the street called Mr.Mapou on this cell phone no answer, please please do not waste your time coming here , especially if you are from out of town, if a place wants business, they must update their business hours or at least have a phone number that works so that customers may communicate as far as what time they are welcomed to the store, I will never recommend this place to anyone

Great bookstore with thousands of books in Haitian Creole, French, and English. The only bookstore black owned and standing for over 33 years in the area. This is great place for the whole family, you can come in say Bonjour and search for some books and sit down to read a few pages before you make your decisions.The owner is Jan Mapou, he is a writer and well-read pioneer of Little Haiti. Libreri Mapou is a gem for any book lover to visit and purchase a few books to add to their library.

I'm sure this is a great store but the hours displayed by Google are all wrong. A lady in front of the store told me Saturday afternoon - when the store was already closed - that it would not be open on Sunday or Monday at all. The phone number does not work.

Although I'm happy to know there's a Haitian bookstore in town, I would advise that the hours are updated or at least presented as "vary." It is currently 11:42am on a Tuesday and I'm once again disappointed to find the business boarded up and closed. This is after experiencing the same thing on Sunday. Like previous reviews mentioned, the listed phone number & email address also doesn't work making contacting the bookstore impossible. I want to support such an important business promoting Haitian literature but this is a huge deterrent. It will be a waste of time to keep traveling to try and support a business that makes it extremely difficult to do so. Please consider these reviews and recommendations for improvement. We must do better!
