First time being at this restaurant. We ordered a deep fried seafood (JALEA), a half rotisserie chicken, and a seafood paella (ARROZ CON MARISCOS) - The deep fried seafood tasted good and not too oily. The chicken thigh and drumstick were also delicious, but the breast was a bit too dry; The paella (they don't call it as such by the way) was good too, the portion isn't as big as you would see at other restaurant, but I would say it is enough for 2 - 4 adults if you intend to share all dishes. We could find better taste of each individual dishes elsewhere, but to find them all in one restaurant is probably not that easy. All 3 dishes plus 2 drinks came in total $99+tax+gratuity, which isn't cheap for 2 people. We could've just ordered 2 dishes instead, but we thought we gave it a good try. Overall, the food is considered good, it is a solid 4 stars, but I won't give it 5 stars. The waiter was super nice and friendly, the service should deserve 5 stars!! This restaurant is quite popular in the area, we were there without reservation, so we were given the choice of either at the bar or outdoor dining spot. In summary, we have not yet found a good reason we would come back again any time soon. if we do, we probably would try out some other dishes and the seafood paella is probably the one we would order again.!!

Great Peruvian place in this busy street full of options. We went with a large party and got a sort of private space. Service was quick. The food was delicious - the ceviches were top notch. We also did the surf and turf option - flat iron steak with Lobster tail which were both great. Will set you back about $100 per person.

The food here is delicious and clearly made with fresh ingredients. We were seated right away without having reservations, although we had to sit outside because the indoor dining area was full even on a weekday. The servers were very quick and helpful. I personally really liked the Fiesta Platter which allowed us to try a lot of the popular appetizers without getting too full. I would love to come back and try more dishes in the future!

Do I love fish? Yes. Do I love limes/lemons? Yes. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant which our server kindly informed me has been open >2 years. This location on Castro has changed a few times so I was curious. The sauces for all three dishes were bold, fierce and fresh. Loved them. The fried fish (Jalea) was the 5-star plate of our weekday lunch. Tender, moist, crisp and light batter. The fried chicken was probably the worst (2-stars, but I gobbled it up to get my protein). Dry, stringy, chewy. Yuca fries accompanied both appetizers. The signature ceviche was good but not great value for price at $30, IMHO. Presentation and taste was 4-stars, though. I can see how this place is fun for a friend meet-up, after-work happy hour, etc. Loved the jungle-y bathrooms.

Personally I think that you pay what you get. It is not that pricey and it is worth it! The food is super fresh, the staff is great, the restaurant is pretty and the drinks are marvelous. I ordered some chicken empanadas for starters, classic ceviche that comes with chips (my favorite), some plantain, chicken chicharron which was amazing. For drinks I don’t remember the names but it was perfectly balanced and refreshing. I would totally come back to try more of their menu.

Why is Limón’s environment ideal for hosting your friends or family? The ambiance at Limón balances a casual yet stylish charm that makes it a natural gathering place. The décor is vibrant without feeling over the top, fostering an environment where guests feel comfortable to relax and talk freely. Lighting and music selections complement the social vibe, encouraging conversation rather than overshadowing it. For group meetups, this balance is invaluable—everyone can enjoy their meal while engaging effortlessly in the group’s dynamic. The venue’s layout also supports this, with tables arranged to maximize space without crowding, thus accommodating larger parties while maintaining intimacy. Moreover, the staff, despite some service inconsistencies noted in reviews, generally strive to provide a hospitable experience that supports group needs, such as menu recommendations or accommodating special requests. This thoughtful environment helps turn a simple meal into a celebratory occasion, where the spirit of togetherness is enhanced by the surroundings.

What specific dishes and drinks make Limón a standout choice for group dining? The heart of Limón’s appeal lies in its authentic Peruvian menu that offers dishes designed to share, creating a culinary adventure ideal for groups. Classic items like ceviche – fresh fish marinated in citrus with a hint of spice – and anticuchos (grilled skewers usually featuring beef heart or chicken) provide unique tastes that spark conversation. How does Limón accommodate groups in terms of service and logistics? While Limón excels in food quality and atmosphere, some feedback highlights the need for awareness about service coordination, especially with larger groups. Orders can occasionally run out without immediate replacement, which means proactive communication with staff can enhance the experience. The restaurant’s system divides roles between order takers and servers, which can sometimes slow problem resolution but also allows staff to specialize in their tasks. Groups are advised to coordinate their orders and be patient with service during busy times, but the management often compensates for any shortcomings with gestures like complimentary desserts. The venue does build in a gratuity for large parties, simplifying the payment process and ensuring staff receive fair tips on more complex service rounds. These logistical details mean that while some teamwork is needed between guests and staff, the overall dining event remains smooth and enjoyable. The setup supports flexible dining durations and multiple courses, perfect for a full group experience that doesn’t feel rushed.
