So firstly, Dawn is the bomb. Professional service with a beguiling sense of humor and a beautiful world view. She runs the place and it feels like family. I’m a huge fan of the Locus reds, and the Nord in particular. Dawn could have sold me anything, she’s so charming, but she did right by us with a stellar bottle and the perfect pairing of cheese and munchies. Come while away an afternoon or an evening at Locus Wines — I promise you won’t regret it.

I always passed by the front of this place and wondered what it was like, until I visited it a week ago. I had the opportunity to meet the staff and try their food and their Locus Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything was super delicious! I loved the humus and the cheese and charcuterie, but my favorite was the double chocolate brownie! It was super tasty. This is a perfect location to taste delicious wine and also to bring a date or spend time with friends.

What makes the wines at Locus unique and appealing for group tastings?
The uniqueness of Locus Wines stems from their Old World-inspired approach combined with Pacific Northwest terroir. The winery sources its fruit from cooler climate vineyards in Yakima Valley and Naches Heights, which are known for producing grapes with higher acidity and complex flavors. This contrasts with many New World styles by focusing on elegance, freshness, and less oak-aging, resulting in wines that are both food-friendly and highly drinkable. Varietals like Syrah, Cinsault, Sémillon, and Sauvignon Blanc form the backbone of their portfolio, inviting diverse palates to explore subtle nuances in aroma and taste. Group tastings benefit from these varied options because they cater to multiple preferences, making it easy for all members to find something they enjoy while encouraging exploration. The wine flights offered are perfect for sharing, embodying the communal spirit of wine tasting and discussion. Whether it’s the crisp brightness of a white wine or the spiced depth of a Syrah, each bottle sparks conversation and discovery, enriching the group dynamic.

Food is central to the Locus Wines experience, intentionally designed to complement and elevate the tasting journey. Co-founder Ton Yazici, with his culinary arts training and catering expertise, ensures that dishes offered harmonize seamlessly with the wines, reflecting the philosophy that “food elevates wine and wine elevates food.” Guests can enjoy a variety of light bites such as paté, nuts, olives, and carefully crafted charcuterie boards, which bring texture and flavor contrasts to the tasting flights. Seasonal offerings like lamb and turkey meatballs in tomato passata and fresh dinner salads introduce richer and more complex pairings, moving beyond the typical wine bar fare. This thoughtful pairing approach guides guests to appreciate how food ingredients interact with specific flavor components in the wines, deepening the sensory experience. For groups, sharing these dishes encourages a convivial atmosphere as participants discuss flavors and preferences while passing plates. Monthly food and wine pairing events further educate and engage visitors, providing an interactive complement to the regular tasting room offerings.
