Now that it is starting to get fresh outside, we wanted to look for a place with a patio, and we were around this place. It has such a nice patio with great views of the mountains and 9th Street. The chicken empanizado was so delicious, and the taste of the chicken was astonishing. The shrimp tacos were so good, and the shrimp were big. Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu.

Fun little spot on 9th with some unique Mexican dishes! When we went, they were understaffed, which made for a longer wait for our food, but it was alright. The food was pretty good! I wouldn’t say I was wowed by the dishes we had though. The quesadilla was too cheesy, but decent, and the chilaquiles were good! The watermelon salad was nice and refreshing. May be worth going back—we’ll see. It is a really good spot for patio dining when it’s warm out!

On a tranquil afternoon stroll through the charming 9th & 9th neighborhood, I decided to venture into uncharted culinary territory and stepped into LOLA for the very first time. What a delightful surprise it turned out to be. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla, and was thoroughly impressed—the flavors were vibrant, the ingredients unmistakably fresh, and the dish was executed to perfection. A truly memorable find.

This is a really cute restaurant and the patio makes it so perfect for enjoying the weather and visiting with friends. The bathroom was pretty messy and didn’t have seat covers though. The hostess was very friendly, kind, and did her best to keep us informed and have a table ready quickly. The chips and guac were pretty tasty and fresh. The guac did have olives in it so I would keep that in mind if you don’t like them. The fish tacos had so little sauce that they were pretty dry and not very flavorful. I did like that the tortillas seemed homemade and the veggies were crisp and fresh. The chicken tinga tacos were very wet and kind of fell apart as a result. The cantaloupe salad was closer to just 4 slices of cantaloupe than actually being like a salad. There really wasn’t much to it. The poached pear was really delicious and nicely spiced with a delicious cream. The drinks were all well made and we loved the flavor combinations. Despite it not being that busy, our server was pretty m.i.a. the whole time and said she wouldn’t split our check because there were six of us. Overall, it’s a great place if you just want good vibes and are ok nursing your drink. At least with our server, it was difficult to pin her down to get another. The food was nothing special and therefore, I think overpriced for the lack of flavor and that it doesn’t come with any sides.

Went for a graduation celebration dinner with a group of 7, and were extremely disappointed. We were so excited for this place, and yet so let down! Here's why: 1) Bad service - Inattentive, rushy, only gave us one tiny pitcher of water for table of 7 (the pitcher filled less than 3 glasses), never took our drink order, took forever to come and get appetizer order, never stopped by during meal. Truly terrible service. And the weird thing? We were there early (5pm) and the place was mostly empty, and we saw staff standing around and yet we had no service. It was bizarre. Maybe they were working on some huge catering order or something, who knows - but we weren't a priority. 2) Terrible value! Portions small, and prices way too high for what you get. The entree with 2 tacos was $18 for 2 tacos with no sides (not even rice and beans)?? Even worse, the chips/guac appetizer was $18 (that's right, $18) and was not even big (maybe 1/2 cup of guac; perhaps for 2 people or so). And the beer (IPA) was $10, served in a can. Crazy. Only 4 of our group of 7 got a single drink, and only 2 appetizers total, no dessert, and we still spent around $230 and weren't even full. On the bright side: 1) The chicken milanese entree (ordered by 1 in our group) was excellent, albeit pricey for what you get 2) The atmosphere is decent (not great, but ok). Outside/patio area looked nice.
