As a person who had given up all hope of ever developing any artistic abilities, I enrolled in a drawing class at LZM to be a companion for my seventh grader who didn’t want to take a class alone. I cannot describe how much we both learned — or how amazed I was that I could actually learn to draw! I went from doodling truly horrible little sketches that weren’t recognizable to finishing fully shaded projects that I was even a bit proud of in less than a year of lessons. Further, I just can’t imagine a better teacher, or nicer person for that matter, than Laurie. If you are on the fence about taking a class do yourself a favor and just sign up. You won’t regret it!

My daughter has always loved art. Drawing lessons with Laurie for about 3 years did so much to help her fundamental technique and set her up for success in advanced high school art classes, and the one on one time with Laurie was also just really great for her during a very difficult period. We highly recommend her!

My daughter loved lessons with Laurie, who always made her feel comfortable and supported. She's really patient and kind with students and went above and beyond to prepare my daughter for the visual arts program at Lamar. I was always amazed with what she drew in her lessons. I would highly recommend instructions with LZM Studio.

I began working with Laurie in January 2015 and I had no drawing experience. I have been working with her weekly and my drawing skills have gone from stick figures to very good. We work a lot on perspective and shading, volume, and dimension. She has the best personality - she's passionate, encouraging, and nurturing. She is an accomplished artist and teacher. She teaches adults and children. She has a great ability to help me learn and understand how to take an object and make it look three dimensional on paper. I've increased my self-confidence because I feel that I am talented in an area that is perceived as hard for most people. I have also become an art critic because I can see the limitations of many artist's work when it looks flat instead of three dimensional.

Laurie is not only a gifted artist, but an excellent teacher as well. She is patient, kind, and encouraging. Her approach allows her students to understand that drawing is a skill that can be learned by everyone.
