There are a lot of good choices for food in Ann Arbor. Mani’s an OK choice for Italian food. Good: handmade pasta cooked to perfection, with good sauce consistency. Good deal for the bottle & board happy hour. Bad: the service. The staff is annoyingly attentive. Why ask me three different times if the food is good when I haven’t even tried it yet. There is likely a script they are asked to follow, but they are not connected to it or the customer. Tag team waiting service confuses me as a patron. The food descriptions on the menu: Why call it Puttanesca pizza when there are no anchovies and most of the toppings are vegetables? Why call it Carbonara pasta but you didn’t mention or write about the truffle leaning sauce. Food was enjoyable, but not accurate to menu or waitress description. Service needs work. Would I try it again? Probably not.

We were wanting pizza and pasta and were happy to find this restaurant. We did not have a reservation but they were able to accommodate our party of 6 very quickly. Our server was great! He kept our drinks refilled and brought our food out to us as it was made. My kids ordered a kids spaghetti and did like it, but complained towards the end it was spicy. We ordered three pizzas: the pepperoni, the supreme, and the ham and mushroom. All were very good! I also ordered the vodka rigatoni pasta. It was good, but not as much as I was expecting. Everyone ate everything and there were no left overs. It was a bit pricey, but I expected that for Ann Arbor.

Excellent and delicious. A spread of the best small plate appetizers around with deliciously prepared entrees and salads. The drinks are well crafted with class and complexity. They also have a great selection of well chosen wines and if they aren’t too busy don’t be afraid to ask about tasting a few. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable and a delight to talk with.
