After a long day of travel from MA to GA, this was exactly what we needed. Monique (waitress) was amazing... Very attentive and super friendly, made us feel like we were at home with family. The food was delicious. Pizza was similar to NY style (crispy crust but soft on the inside, very little "flop"), Caesar salad was huge, kids spaghetti was a generous portion size. Everything was delicious, had to start eating before pictures were taken (🤤🤣). Liked it so much we went back again a couple nights later. Highly recommend. We walked there both times from hotel, so I can't comment on parking.

We had just gotten out of the aquarium and we had an appetite. It was hard to chose between a few options we had already singled out. I wanted to try a nice Korean place with decent reviews and pretty good pictures. There was a bison steak house and a fancy Mexican restaurant on the list also. We axed the Mexican cause that's all we eat back home, the wife wasn't feeling the Korean, but then again I just wanted to try their version of wings and Philly, the bison steak house sounded exotic enough but we didn't want to roll the dice and it was further than the pizza place, so Max's it was . Service was pretty darn good. They constantly kept up with our drinks and constantly cleaned our table. The ambiance was very chill. Just the right amount of noise to enjoy a lunch. Food was alright. We started off with some wing appetizers. I saw em on another table and they looked glorious. They turned out to have an excellent presentation, good flavor but we're very cold on the inside. They were fully cooked but cold. So wings were a bust. Then we opted to share a plate. We started with the chicken Parm with spaghetti then decided to go with the shrimp scampi in a garlic butter wine sauce. We subbed the shrimp for chicken though. Price didn't change. That was actually pretty good. Good portion and flavor but they didnt serve any kind of bread with it. So we order a traditional pizza. First pizza they brought out was burnt to a crisp, they actually asked if we wanted it like that,I thought they had to be joking but they actually asked and we told em no. I would not have thought that they would want to put their name behind that but I guess someone has actually said yes before. So we had them remake our pizza. We ordered the pizza cause it was coal fire cooked and we needed bread with our pasta, which we finished cause the good pizza took a bit. It wasn't terrible but we probably won't be back.

This pizza was an absolute standout—simple, balanced, and executed perfectly. The tomato sauce was rich, tangy, and clearly made from high-quality tomatoes. The mozzarella was fresh and creamy, melted nicely on the pie and added just the right amount of saltiness and texture. The crust deserves special praise: it was thin, lightly blistered, and closer in style to a New York slice than a traditional Neapolitan, it held its shape beautifully without flopping, as seen in the photo. Light, crisp on the outside with a soft interior, and easy to fold, it made for an effortlessly enjoyable eat. Topped with fresh basil, a drizzle of olive oil, and just the right bake, this pizza hit all the marks for flavor, texture, and balance. Definitely one I’d go back for.

Grabbed lunch here before going to the aquarium and college football HOF, and the food was so good! I tried the homemade meatballs and they definitely live up to the hype mentioned in the menu! The pizzas were super crispy with fresh toppings and the staff were very friendly and cheerful. It takes a minute for the food to be ready as it is prepared when ordered, but the wait is definitely worth it. Great place for lunch!

⭐ 5-Star ⭐ We stopped in at Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria in downtown Atlanta near the aquarium, and it was a fantastic family experience. We ordered the flatbread and meatballs for our 2-year-old, and he loved them both. What really stood out was the staff. Regina wasn’t even our server, but when she noticed our little one having a meltdown, she came over with a lemonade to help calm him down. That small act of kindness made a huge difference and shows the kind of people they have working here. Our server, Monique, was equally wonderful—very prompt, attentive, and always checking in to make sure the kids had everything they needed. The restaurant has a great outdoor seating area, perfect for people-watching or enjoying nice weather in downtown Atlanta. It’s a spot I’d recommend to families visiting the Georgia Aquarium or Centennial Park who want good food and even better service.
