Time for lunch and spotted McMenamins across the street. Why not? Great Iced Tea! Atmosphere is great, the vibe is in tune with the area and the age of the building…complete with a wood burning stove in the center of the room. The Hummus plate was nice but overpowering. It is served with both raw and pickled veggies. Combined with the garlic laced Tzatziki sauce it is a bit much. Definitely Portland…where everything has its own spin.

I don't rate a place unless I really love it and really intend to be back. McMenamins has good food. Really good. If you are looking for fancy, this is not it, but it is wonderfully good. Nice laid back atmosphere, nice variety of local beers plus wines, and Danni behind the bar kept those wanting mixed drinks happy as well. Oh, and there is a genius in their kitchen when it comes to soup. Trust me on this.

McMenamins has one of my favorite bar food menus. The Cajun tots are a MUST! Everything else I’ve eaten here is also very good. I’m usually pretty pleased with the beer selection. Service has been hit or miss but I keep coming back because the food and atmosphere makes up for it. Really fun to have so many pool tables available and a few TVs to watch games.

The Tavern and Pool McMenamins location is a great spot for delicious food (pizza), drinks, and bar games. I highly recommend the Hammerhead BBQ pizza, the Tropical Storm pizza, the Omnivore pizza, and the Margherita pizza. And definitely order some Cajun tots! There are 3 pool tables and 2 shuffle board games, and also a nice fireplace to warm up. And of course, they have a stocked bar with all the local beers, cidars, and spirits.

A McMenamins in the Portland area seems to be a staple, if not a way of life. Each with its own personality both by location and its service staff. Tried the bacon cheeseburger and a by request pepperoni pizza. It's solid pub fair, though prices tend a bit to the higher side. Good selection of beers and our server was friendly. Definitely a good place to meet friends and hang out.
