Mission Brewing is hands down an East Village staple!! If you haven’t wandered past this spot on your way to a Padres game—or better yet, stopped in—you’re seriously missing out. Tucked just steps away from Petco Park, this brewery nails the perfect pre-game (or post-game) vibe. Game day at Mission Brewing? A win before the first pitch. They’re serving up daily draft beer specials and 4-packs to go—so you can sip now and stock up for later. And let’s talk about Jorge, the beer tender who makes this place even better. His genuine hospitality and deep knowledge of every beer on tap is unmatched. Whether you’re a hop-head or just beer-curious, Jorge’s got you. Bonus points: the dog-friendly patio and family-friendly atmosphere make it feel like your coolest friend’s backyard—but with way better beer. Whether you’re a local or just cruising through, make sure Mission Brewing is on your East Village hit list. Padres game or not, it’s always worth a stop.

-- Great beer, but something needs to be said about the comedy show host -- I went to the comedy show they hosted this past Saturday and it was fine, they had a couple of decent acts, others were very politically loaded (and by nature, not usually funny and often tasteless). Such is the times. I don't take issue with the political jokes and takes that I may not agree with, I believe in freedom of speech. However, at the very end of the show, the host repeatedly chanted "ALLAHU AKBAR," and attempted to get the crowd to join in. It was cringey and made people feel uncomfortable. Talk about not reading the room, we had multiple veterans present, with one sitting directly front. My advice is to not forget the context of the 9/11 attacks and what ALLAHU AKBAR being chanted at the top of your lungs means to most of us who value the opportunities given to us in this country, by men who fought against those who choose to scream that phrase before an act of violence. This isn't personal against the host, but he really made a poor decision that does not reflect well on the business and alienates a good portion of those who may attend, given you live in a, you know.. military city. But again, truly delicious beer, I'll be back.
