The MIT Outdoor Tennis Courts, known as the duPont Tennis Courts, are a premier athletic facility located on the MIT campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Originally constructed in 1959 thanks to the generous bequest of David Flett duPont, these courts have been recently renovated to provide modern amenities, making them one of the top outdoor tennis venues in New England. The facility boasts 12 well-maintained outdoor courts equipped with a newly resurfaced playing surface and lighting, which allows for play even during the evening hours. These upgrades ensure excellent playing conditions suitable for all skill levels, from casual players fueling friendly matches to varsity athletes honing their competitive edge.

The courts serve multiple purposes: they are home to MIT’s men’s and women’s tennis teams and also accommodate club sports, intramural activities, physical education, and recreational play. The facility’s integration into the MIT Athletics program includes convenient online reservations and a walk-up system, which streamlines court usage for the broad MIT community. Notably, MIT students enjoy free court rentals between 2 PM and 6 PM, encouraging student engagement with the sport. Additionally, the nearby J.B. Carr Indoor Tennis Facility complements the outdoor courts, offering four indoor courts plus locker rooms, showers, and lavatories. It is one of my favorite public courts in Cambridge area. 12 courts are available in an easy location with lights and well maintained. Things to keep in mind are that they could be crowded around the time after work. Sometimes MIT affliations can ask you empy the court for reservations. Usually court turnover rate is not too bad. The waiting line takes place at the center of the court complex where a water fountain and benches are. Often people mess with this when courts are full. Street parkings are available by chance either on Vassar st or Memorial drive, and you can walk over to the court. March 3, 2024 lights are available at the courts.

12 pristine courts. Angled corners to block balls from going to other courts. Only problem is there are no benches. The area is nicely secluded from traffic noise.

10 courts and seems new and clean. Theres a class monday, Wednesday, and Friday for beginners that was going on but it ended at 3pm and theres plenty of space to play around them. The coach also told us that the school team has practice there everyday at 5pm but that there is usually room to play around them as well. No one bothered us and it was easy to find, right next to the soccer field and a big white dome building. Also the google pinned location is actually accurate.

Great courts! Book a time slot in the MIT Recreation app. You need to have an MIT affiliation to do so. In COVID-19 times, it is necessary to do a check in before playing in a stand next to the entrance of the Z center.
