I was a member at MountainGate Country Club for several years, and while the facilities have potential, my overall experience was disappointing, especially in terms of member treatment, pricing inconsistencies, and management priorities. One of the most disappointing aspects was the discrepancy in membership fees. The club prioritizes attracting new members willing to pay higher fees rather than ensuring fairness for existing ones. This approach made it clear that retention and member satisfaction are not a priority. Several members, myself included, discovered that the director of tennis, who was also a tennis coach, was charging for lessons that never took place. This raised serious concerns about financial integrity. One of my friends left the club as well due to inappropriate comments about her autistic child made by the director of tennis, which ultimately led the family to leave the club. Dining options are another disappointment. For the price point of the club, the quality of the food was consistently below expectations. It was so awful that I was embarrassed to invite friends to dine with me. After weighing all these issues, I ultimately decided to cancel my membership. While MountainGate has a great location and potential, the lack of member appreciation, poor management, and overall value make it difficult to recommend unless significant improvements are made. Many words come to mind. Disappointment is an understatement.
