From the moment we walked in the door on 4/14/25 at 11:15am - the older female employee was as condescending and rude from the get go…it never stopped from the moment we walked in until we left, and yes we left quickly without shopping as we wanted to. She was horrible! Mean and rude. We will not ever be back. UPDAtE: After leaving the store, my wife called back to complain about the poor service. The problem employee answered the phone and listened to my wife’s grievances. She thanked her and said she would let the “Manager” know if this issue. We later looked on the website and saw the employees photo. She is the OWNER! Do not shop at this store!

What a lovely shop! Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and super helpful. I went in to ask questions since I’m a noob. They were able to help me with everything I needed. They’re a bit understaffed so just be patient. I genuinely enjoyed it and walked away with 2 more canvases 😂 (they have a great sale going!) Will def become a regular. Thank you Needle Nook!

It was an amazing selection of beautiful threads but unfortunately I did not get the chance to look or purchase anything. I went in with my family and my 4 year old was just looking at threads and touching some for maybe a minute or two- not making a mess at all but the woman who was working said he needs to stop touching things bc he won’t know where to put them back. And it really upset me because 1. She didn’t even give him the chance to make a mess. 2. Of course we would help him put them back up if he did! But she didn’t even give that chance. Moms should be able to shop while kids explore. So we left and they lost our business. It’s sad because we are visiting Southern California for the month and this was one of the few craft stores I’ve seen around but I felt so unwelcome there I won’t be back

Helga is the sweetest woman! She made me feel very comfortable and helped me find just what I needed and of course more. The range of fibers is amazing. From cotton to silks. Beads and oh the best needle minders I've ever seen! I snapped up a beautiful Hello Kitty needle minder! Worth every penny! Originally a Cali girl I've moved deep into the Ozark Mountains. So shopping for anything like the Needle Nook is a 2.5 hour drive and their floss has nothing on the Needle Nook! Next time I come back to visit my girls I know where I'm going shopping! If you want beautiful canvases and a great selection of beads and threads , you’ll find it here. But don’t go here for customer service or help. I felt like I was bothering the new owner when asking for help selecting threads. When I asked for her opinion, she told me she didn’t have one and getting help was painful. Very unfriendly and not at all welcoming. The other employee on the canvas side never even acknowledged us or asked if we needed help. The first and only time she spoke to us was to tell us she was closing. With the needlepoint craze going wild and all the places to purchase, they need to sharpen their customer service skills to compete. It’s a shame because I come to La Jolla once a year and used to look forward to shopping there. I bought $200 in threads but there were 4 canvases I would have purchased and will order from a much friendlier shop
