I had heard about NoLa on 5th a while ago and finally decided to check it out and I’m so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, the experience was top notch. We were greeted immediately with a warm welcome, and the service throughout our visit was absolutely amazing friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The outdoor look of the place was beautiful stylish, clean, and gave off a relaxed New Orleans vibe that set the mood before we even sat down. It wasn’t super busy when we arrived, which had me wondering at first… but once the food came out, that doubt disappeared quick. I ordered the catfish gumbo, and it was packed with bold, rich flavor. The catfish was tender, well-seasoned, and the gumbo itself was comforting and full of depth. My partner got the Cajun catfish pasta, and that dish was out of this world creamy, spicy, and satisfying with perfectly cooked pasta and crispy catfish. We ended up sharing both dishes because they were just that good. The beers were ice cold and hit the spot served at the perfect temperature. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous without being over the top. This place is a hidden gem that deserves way more attention. Great food, great service, chill vibe, and a beautiful space. I’ll definitely be back. NoLa on 5th, y’all are doing it right!

Great atmosphere for watching Padres games and very close to the heart of Hillcrest neighborhood's downtown. The beef n shrimp po boy as seen on Triple D was worth the visit, though the chicken and sausage jambalaya side cup was just OK, not great. For seafood lovers the Shrimp Etoufee with Fried Catfish is the perfect choice. Fresh. The bar has a great selection of local IPAs and beers. Happy Hour helps (3 to 6pm). Will definitely return for their many other New Orleans Menu items.

Stopped in while visiting town for some soul food, but was disappointed. The food was bland and the rice was mushy, though the salad and garlic toast were delicious. Our waitress, Anna, was friendly and helpful. The place is rundown, with cobwebs hanging over our heads at the table, and the bathroom reeked of pee. They really need to clean the place....I’m scared to imagine what the kitchen looks like. Won’t be back.

Dinner on a weeknight. There were only a few people at 6:30p. Service was friendly but the food took time to come out, in spite of being not at all busy. But the food was totally on point! Cajun shrimp pasta with blackened chicken was delicious. The chicken was very soft and flavorful and the pasta sauce was to die for. We had an order of Louisiana shrimp plate with chicken but unfortunately got only chicken as the server misunderstood and substituted shrimp with chicken. But my husband didn’t want to send it back or ask again for a change. The whole reason for adding chicken to both dishes was because they ran out of catfish. I have to deduct a point for that as we went there to have catfish. My friend got the salad with blackened shrimp and that was also good. Have to mention the sweet potato fries were delish, one of the best I have eaten. The warm brownie with ice cream and walnuts was a huge serving and so good! Will definitely be back and hope to get some catfish next time. Note that the kitchen closes early on weeknights, it closed by 8pm and people coming in after were disappointed. Shout out to the server for letting us stay and chat till she was caught up with her closing chores.

I ordered the Shrimp Étouffée, but as you can see in the photo, it was mostly plain rice and bore no resemblance to authentic shrimp étouffée. I’ve eaten here before and had a great experience, but this time was a huge letdown. We visited in the middle of the day, and aside from one other table, the place was nearly empty. Yet the food still took an unreasonably long time to arrive. Look at the picture, then search for what Shrimp Étouffée should actually look like. There’s no comparison. It’s unacceptable.
