Amazing class! I took the beginner class and could not have asked for more! Tom was very welcoming, knowledgeable and fun. He explored many areas that a beginner needs to know, gave us hands on experience time and guide us through it. He was kind and patient with my questions and presented the material in an engaging way. On top of that, the class is small enough for a group to have meaningful exchanges while learning. The best part is that I actually understand the basics of my camera now, can easily use it in manual mode and stay forever away from auto :) I highly recommend it! And I’m going back for composition next!

My friend and I took Tom's composition class and had a great time. Tom talked to us about how to think about composition and light, and then sent us out to take pictures. We then came in, looked at everyone's photos and talked about what worked and what could be improved. We learned so much! Tom was patient, funny, and a great cheerleader for us newbies. I enjoyed the class so much I ended up taking an individual session with Tom. I knew enough to know what areas I needed help with. Tom's wealth of knowledge is such a benefit for novices like me just getting started with photography. I highly recommend Tom's classes if you're just starting out or if you want to take your photos to the next level. Thank you, Tom!

Tom is an outstanding teacher. I attended the DSLR/M Jumpstart session, and found the session as the perfect balance between theory and hands-on learning. Tom expertly navigated the class, providing individualized guidance on camera setup to help each of us achieve desired results, all while ensuring no one was left behind. Personally, for the first time, I feel confident using my camera in Manual mode and have a clearer understanding of many terms I had previously encountered in YouTube tutorials. I would not hesitate to join any of Tom’s in-person classes again.

I am new to digital photography and was intimidated by the complexity of my new camera. After taking Tom’s intro class, I feel capable of taking decent pictures and using my camera. There is a ton more to learn, but Tom gave me the basic skills to start the journey and the confidence to try. Thank you Tom.

I came to the DSLR/M Jumpstart class with some prior theoretical knowledge of DSLR cameras and exposure settings, gained from a class I took years ago and watching lots of YouTube videos. However, Tom’s class transformed that knowledge into practical skills. What stood out to me was how Tom tailored his teaching to help us work with our specific gear, making the experience much more hands-on and personalized. Beyond being a great instructor, Tom is a passionate and inspiring artist. He gave us a printout of a quote at the end of the class that left a lasting impression on me.
