This is one of my most very favorite spots in the whole of NYC. I've visited Pier I in every season, including the dead of winter (just bundle up; it's worth it). There's even bathrooms just east of the pier (be careful w the times, but it's nice to know they're there). Try to catch a sunset from Pier I; they're jaw dropping. During the summer you can get food and drinks at Pier I, but it's still well worth it to walk down to the end of the pier during any season to take in the beautiful views in all directions.

Needs a lot more shade options on a hot summer day. Beverages are okay but lines could be handled better. Lines to the bathroom as well are very long on nights like Salsa at the Pier.
