I’m not going to take Pirate for granted- it is one of the most accessible and cost friendly studios out there. However compared to the West Adams location this place is severely lacking. Sometimes equipment breaks but it is what it is. You get a decent deal for what you pay for and it’s expected to always bring my own stuff in case that happens. However since what seems to be late April, there has been serious issues with AC just straight up not working in almost any of the recording studios I’ve booked. I then have to wait an hour to ask to get moved. This has happened maybe 5 or 6 times since then, and the AC is still not fixed. So oftentimes you’re in a stuffy room and the only thing support can do is give you an extra hour on them. They place Honeywell fans you should be able to plug in but then they don’t work. That and they are not accurately communicating that most of these rooms do NOT have functioning AC when booking. this is probably the worst part because it’s quite deceptive, or at best a big oversight. The other thing is that it’s usually not very clean. Trashcans and recycling bins are usually overflowing and sometimes the studios are not very tidy either. I would have issues with doors jamming up as well. Sometimes there are wheels on chairs just unscrewed so you can’t sit in them. Lately they had what appears to be a sewage leak that has blocked off all bathrooms and you have to go outside and upstairs to use the restroom. There’s just a lot in disarray right now. If Pirate fixes these issues then I would be ok with it, but until then this is the worst location I’ve visited by far in the US. Stick to West Adams

We used one of their rooms when we had to rehearse with a new drummer on short notice for a show at the whisky & the property was very well maintained! The mixer in our room had an issue, but because they make the powered speakers accessible thru the ceiling mounts, we were able to bypass it & use our own mixer. Gear was in pretty decent shape, a/c was working & we really appreciated the private parking in back, as we were traveling with a bigger van.

We’ve been rehearsing at Pirate.com in West Jefferson every Tuesday with our band, and overall it’s been a great experience. The rooms are well-equipped with quality gear, and it’s a huge plus to have a dedicated space where we can play loud without worrying about noise complaints. The only downside is that there’s no staff on-site, so if something isn’t working, you have to reach out to support online—which can be a little frustrating when you’re on a time crunch. That said, we’d definitely recommend it to other bands looking for a reliable, professional rehearsal space.

If you want to be a good Pirate, let's unpack: As far as I'm concerned, you are simply not going to find a studio where you can work out of for this kind of price. They offer favorable deals in bulk in the studios are functional and acoustically sound. This is an essential service and if this company were to go out of business, it would be a sad day for Silverlake (and all the other locations they have worldwide)! I'm rating them five stars for this reason, but I'm ALSO HOPING that you read the rest of this because it contains important information: You're going to need Whatsapp for support. I have ditched meta so this sucks for me, but I haven't had any problems recently so here's hoping. The Focusrite Sapphires are usable interfaces but I ultimately started bringing my own because it was glitching mildly during playback sometimes. This will vary based your hardware but I started packing an away bag. The keyboard is not always functional in the rooms. It can be hit or miss but they will bring you one or comp you if it isn't working. Again you gotta to have WhatsApp for fluid communication. I have contacted them about stupid things I've contacted them about important things, they are responsive and care about your session, but... Yah, chat app stuff. I continue to use this place, just got back from an awesome session. It is an absolute blessing in my life and *I'm grateful that this infrastructure exists*. Performing musicians and session producers need all the support we can get.
