Overall, this is a good and quirky little spot to grab dinner. The food was unique and combined flavors in somewhat unusual ways. Some dishes I thought worked really well (smoked trout dip, broccolini), but others just didn’t quite make sense to me (trout and grits).

I love this place. Fair prices, delicious and fun food and drinks, and wonderful atmosphere. I come here all the time. I love the grilled cheese with tomato soup. It's one of the greatest foods I've eaten. The focaccia sandwich is amazing too and the shrimp and grits (when they have it) was divine. Definitely worth a visit. Oh, and the cocktails are wonderfully strong:)

I have dropped in for small plates a number of times this summer and I cannot recommend enough! I have not eaten my way through the entire menu yet, (it changes!) but I have not run into any misses. Definitely try the skewers! Fun to sit at the bar if the tables are full. Poor Hendrix has managed to stay relevant and remains both a neighborhood place and a restaurant to be sought out!

Absolutely a gem! We had the fried Brussels, chicken liver pate, grilled cabbage, and white bean soup. 10/10 all around. Logan our server was knowledgeable and funny - gave us some suggestions as we are visiting from out of town. The seating is 1st come, 1st served so I could see how it might be hard to find a spot on a busy night. The music was at the perfect level and was upbeat. Once it was a bit later they turned down the lights and let the string lights shine above the bar. Our drinks - the Figgy smalls and sangria were delicious and very affordable. Parking is easy and the rest of the neighborhood seems very walkable. If I lived in the area I would certainly frequent Poor Hendrix all the time.

We had a good dinner here with friends. The restaurant is SMALL, with only a few tables inside. There is also a long bar, and then a rather large covered patio (with fans). We sat outside, and even though it was hot, the fans made it comfortable enough. The ice in our drinks melted quickly, so it would be helpful if they had coasters or drinks napkins to keep the condensation from running all over the table. That was the only real concern, though. The drinks were good, and all the food we got was tasty and thoughtful. Among the 4 of us we got shrimp and grits, Thai chicken salad, and 2 orders of the Hawaiian Fries Chicken Sandwich. We also started with an order of the house made ricotta. Everything was delicious. Service was also good, with our waitress being attentive but also giving us time to look over the menu (which is on a QR code at the table). Overall a great experience and I'm glad we got to try it!
