It saddens me to write this review. I signed up for 12 months of Tai chi. Shortly after signing up, my family obligations changed, so I wasn't able to attend classes on site. I fulfilled my 12 month payment contract. Unfortunately, the auto-deductions continued. Not only did they continue, but the cost increased by $30 to $189 per month. If they had me noted as an active customer, I should have received notice of the price change, but I did not receive anything. I thought it must just be an error, so I reached out several times. Despite my voicemail messages and email correspondence to Jeff Patterson about my concern, I did not receive any response from him or another person from this business. Since these were unauthorized charges for the last four months with no resolution from Jeff, I had no choice but to report it as fraud to my credit card company. It always seemed like he put a lot into the business, so I was surprised that he didn't at least acknowledge the concern. Not professional at any level. After 4 months of trying to contact this business, I received an email apologizing for the delayed response. They stated that my last email went into quarantine. So what about the other emails I sent? Do their voicemail messages go into a black hole, too, because I never received a call back. They only responded because I reported the unauthorized charges as fraud on my cc. I don't buy it at all. And, they refused to reimburse me for all of the unauthorized charges but one. I followed all of the terms of their contract. If I could remove the one-star default here, I would. Lack of resolution continues. I reached out about getting reimbursement for the other two months via the email they responded with. Guess what? There was no response even though I followed all the terms of the contract to make sure my membership was canceled. They certainly are prompt to return calls if you are signing up for classes. Final word... my credit card vendor had to fight to get this resolved. Good luck ever trying to cancel your membership. They don't answer calls, return messages, or claim they ever receive your emails. All you will get is a flippant email. Again zero stars!

I joined the Portland Tai Chi Academy seven years ago. I was a little hesitant at first, since it was my first experience in a martial arts school. But I found all the two-person exercises to be the most enjoyable part of studying at here. This a very serious program, but you don't have to be anyone but yourself in order the reap the benefits of it. The emphasis here is on continuously sinking your weight throughout the form. It's good at any age and any time of day.

It's not that I was feeling disconnected (pandemic) from others, but rather a spark of inner growth, a connection within myself. Curiously, I googled Tai Chi, and found this Academy; happy I did. Kindness, Positive Energy, Knowledge, describes my (free) 1-hour, private lesson. If you're in my position and discovered this place by chance, thank yourself, you're on a pathway to discover what you're seeking, embrace it and grow.
