Overrated. Location is everything for them. 20% of tap list was out. Understaffing lead to mediocre service. $10 beers in plastic cups is wild. Undercooked thin crust pizza. There are a lot of other options nearby.

This place is a hidden gem. Beer is great but the pizza is better. We stopped at 13 breweries on our week here and Protector was one of the best and it’s veteran owned.

Popped in for a pint and was greeted by such a kind beertender. She explained their beers well, including guest taps (seltzers). Prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a stop in for a pint. Looking forward to coming back and trying the pizza!

Happened to stop by Protector after a trip to the Midway, and we were pleasantly surprised. The selection of craft beer was plentiful, and it was all around a wonderful experience. The girl(sadly didn’t get her name) working was very friendly and helped us get our drinks quickly. We also got to meet the owner(s) whom were very friendly and helped us feel comfortable in our visit. The San Diego Hazy and the hazy mosaic pale ale were both very delicious. They also offer other beers from outside breweries if you want to mix it up. The environment and atmosphere was one of my favorite aspects. From comfortable couches and a fire pit/tables outdoors, to a warm and inviting interior, this place felt like somewhere I’d enjoy hanging out with friends and family. No food was on the menu, which is okay as there are plenty of food choice in the area. Overall, this was an excellent stop on our way back to our room, and we will be back to visit again soon. Highly recommend!

Amazing spot, huge beer selection with lots of in house brewed options as well as local breweries. I got the Protector Brewery Hazy IPA and loved it! They also had some cocktail, seltzer, and hard kombucha options. Staff was super friendly and let me sample beers to find the right fit for me! Beautiful water front location with sleek simple design. I would highly reccomend this spot! No food being served currently but owner stated it's being added soon.
