I cannot say enough amazing things about Pure Barre Ann Arbor and especially Sophia Werner! I actually drove an hour just to take her class, and it was 100% worth it. Sophia’s energy, encouragement, and attention to form made the workout both challenging and fun. She creates such a positive, motivating environment that makes you want to push yourself and keep coming back. If you’ve never taken a class with her, you’re missing out! She’s truly outstanding!

Took my first Pure Barre class and I get why everyone is obsessed! Matthew was the instructor and it was so much fun! I have no dance experience so I was definitely nervous but Matthew made me feel right at home! The environment was welcoming, the music was great, and the workout was hard! If you are in the Ann Arbor area and are thinking about trying Pure Barre, you definitely should!

Nice staff and instructors. This was my first experience with a Pure barre studio and the type of classes they offer. I had never taken a barre class of any kind before. Ultimately, I don't think the form of exercise is for me, but I had a lot of fun leaving my comfort zone and learning new ways to exercise. The regular price for a 4-class/month membership is $89/mo. I personally think it is too much, considering the classes are only 50 minutes long. That's about $22 per class. I would be open to returning when I'm in a better financial state. I would recommend trying their free class to see if it's for you!

So far, I have had a great experience at Pure Barre! The instructors are all really awesome and helpful, coming over to you to adjust your positioning so that you are getting the best workout you can get! I was slacking on keeping up with exercising and I bought a 10-class pack, so I've been motivated to go to these classes and always feel great about myself after leaving. An awesome workout and a very inviting place! Definitely would recommend.

They quickly learn your name and adjust your position during class to help you get the most out of each exercise. The studio always has great promotions going on which make taking barre classes as a student totally affordable. My favorite 50 minutes of the day!

What activities are available at Pure Barre?

Pure Barre offers a variety of four distinct group class formats, each tailored to deliver a highly effective full-body workout using low-impact movements. These formats, inspired by ballet, Pilates, and yoga, focus on small, controlled pulses that target specific muscle groups to improve strength, agility, balance, and flexibility. The core of each class lies in isometric training, where muscles engage intensely in tiny movements held until fatigue to enhance muscle tone without harsh impact on the joints. Props such as light weights, resistance bands, and small weighted balls are commonly incorporated to increase challenge and variety during exercises. Classes typically include segments of gentle stretching and lengthening to not only strengthen but elongate muscles, reducing the risk of injury and improving posture. Additionally, there is a rotating “focus” class every month that may blend multiple techniques or emphasize a particular area such as core strength or balance, providing variety and continual progression for group members returning frequently.

Moreover, the studio provides complimentary equipment like sticky socks and light weights so everyone can be fully prepared without fuss.
