No Such Thing - The broad strokes and important scenes were all on point, but many of the details, especially in minor scenes, were off: some lines sounded either strange or off tone, their affect was often flat or otherwise uncanny, and the intonation often felt forced. But when things got going, they really got going, and I would say the play has accomplished its goal - Ren's longing for her lost dreams shines through, and that is a feat. I'm also being unfair - I'm new to watching theater, and so I'm comparing them to theaters 10x larger (i.e. 10x the money) and this brand new work to plays with decades of battletesting. I imagine they punch well above their weight, and I'll watch another play from them next time I'm in the area.

Rivendell continues to be a powerhouse for women. Every show is astounding where you get to experience up close some of the best acting in the city. Alias Grace, Something Clean, The Cake to name a few of the productions I've loved here. Always giving me new perspectives, truly impressive. I'd rather see a show here than at the big venues downtown. To me the fact they are letting women shine and lead is so important and empowering and challenging the status quo in theatre.

Small, intimate venue puts you right in the action. No stage, just a few rows of seating. Sat in the front row, so it was pretty damn cool. Caught a production of "Love and Human Remains".
