One of my favorite spots to bike, on a route going from Mission Bay Park all the way around the bay back to Crown Point. This particular trail is not too busy and generally safe to ride on a bike.

Starts at Mission Bay Drive and will take you all the way to Gilman Drive in La Jolla. The path ends here. However, from there you can bike on N. Torrey Pines Road and beyond. Eventually this road turns into the Old Highway 101 (coastal rail trail). If you need a multiple hour ride, go to Oceanside and back. It's all mostly flat, with mild inclines in a few areas.

I liked this path, but for riding bikes only. There is a mix-match feeling on the different surfaces, but that makes the journey a little more adventurous, which I like. My family and I rode all the way to Gilman Drive and back to our starting point at Mission Bay park (on RV park end). We thought about the possibility of roller skating on the path. Ehhh, I don't think that would be optimal, honestly.

Use with caution, and especially if alone! The stretch of this path going north to In-n-Out, is not fully maintained, is irregular, has dark spaces and hiding spaces, and parts of it are quite narrow with sharp/blind turns, and questionable individuals. Hopefully the City of San Diego will improve it in the future, to match the much higher quality path from In-n-Out north to Gilman Drive and beyond.
