Really sad to be writing this review after being an enthusiastic customer here for almost 2 years. I arrived for a massage and asked for a robe from a woman at the front desk who was checking me in. She seemed really put off by my request and cocked an eyebrow at me as if I had asked for the moon. This was my fifth or sixth massage here and I’d been given a robe before, so I expressed this and she said “no you definitely have not.” She asked why I would want a robe if I am not using the deck, which I found very strange as I have come here several times before for only a massage and have been handed a robe by the other friendly staff. And the robes are only for massage clients anyway so this question seemed confrontational for no reason? I told her I just wanted to change in advance of my massage and she was like “Where would you change if you aren’t going to use the deck?” And I was like “The locker room…” Only then did she tell me that there are robes hanging there for massage clients and that I can go get it myself. I asked why she seemed perturbed by my request and she told me I “don’t need to diagnose her like that.” I’m here to relax and enjoy myself, not get into a confrontation before an expensive service. I’ve enjoyed the sauna here at least a dozen times but feel nervous to go back if she’s sitting at the front desk. This seemed easy to avoid… by just handing me a robe (which is complementary anyway?)… Sure enough I found a robe in the locker room to wear and was totally sobbing as I changed into it. Why didn’t she just tell me it was hanging there before antagonizing me? Maybe she was having a bad day. The massage itself was 5 stars, and the person who helped me check out was the sweetest. If I ever come back I guess I just won’t ask for a robe?

I came here on a Friday afternoon directly from a long flight. Intrigued by the all-gender clothing optional concept, since that feels like a great way to let loose psychologically. The good: the indoor relaxation rooms (clothes on), with their giant bean bags etc - very relaxing, first quiet moment I had all day after travel. Staff were nice, locker rooms clean. I didn’t book a massage, so can’t speak to that, but they’re probably great. As for the deck area: Most of the sitting spots as well as most of the hot tub, at 4ish in the afternoon, were in the direct sun, and you’re not supposed to use sunscreen if jumping back into the hot tub (or I guess sauna too, since you’ll sweat it off anyway). There was one mixed gender group of friends in the hot tub area for a while, who took up most of it, but when they left, the rest of the time there was just dudes. Not exactly what I envisioned, but I guess that’s how it rolls.

Sacred Rain just completed this beautiful new mural on their building and while it is gorgeous - what's really special about this place is what's inside. They have a stunning sanctuary with co-ed clothing optional space appointed with immaculate showers and locker facilities and an outdoor space with dry sauna, outdoor cooling showers and in-ground hot tub. For those sunny days there are deck chairs and chaise loungers where you can soak in the sun, read your favorite book or connect with friends, family and other guests. It's a contemplative space where you can escape from the world and relax, recharge and feel revitalized. All are welcome in this non-sexualized space. It not just feels safe it is safe. Those brothers and sisters of mine that are queer and trans are always welcome. The are many open-minded allies that always are kind, supportive and accepting. I have taken advantage of classes - they have a great meditation class it the inside upstairs community space. I have see many of the massage therapists and while Renatta and Eric are my personal faves...you cannot get a bad massage here. Open. Discreet. Friendly. Loving. When in Ballard (visiting or outside the area) or if you are local this is a special place and it, indeed, feels sacred. Which is they Sacred Rain is such an inspired name for this amazing space and the services they provide!

After just having my second visit to Sacred Rain Healing Center, I can confidently say it was even more incredible than the first! My initial experience was already amazing—the serene atmosphere, the added perk of the sauna and hot tub—but this time, John truly worked miracles. I’ve struggled all my life with lower scoliosis back pain, and whatever John did truly helped as I haven’t had any pain since, which feels unbelievable! His skill, care, and technique are unmatched, and I highly recommend booking with him if you’re looking for real relief. I’ll definitely be back soon to see John again—thank you, Sacred Rain, for such a transformative experience!

I love this place. It’s very simple in that it’s one sauna and one hot tub with two cold showers and sometimes I notice ice water and a bucket. But it really stands apart in terms of the mix of respectful, friendly, introspective, social. I always have good conversations with strangers and general feel at ease.
