Good dirt path walk. Some bikers use the trail. Overall a would be great but the highway noise is definitely consistently heard throughout drowning out some of the wildlife noises. Great trail for running

Entered from Limerick street at the eastern terminus of the trail. I do not recommend entering from this point, as it requires a scramble on some pretty steep terrain for about 200ft. The rest of the trail is a very easy walk- on well maintained, flat trails. On a hot day, this trail is easily 15degrees cooler as it is in a gully, with a lot of tree cover, and a riparian environment.

This place is gorgeous. A bit underrated I think but that's a good thing. Not that many people there. Beautiful trails with a bunch of canopies and shared sections perfect for San Diego warm weather in the summer. The creek that run through add a touch of wilderness and boosts your hiking experience. There are multiple trails that run along the hwy 52, so if you are on a bike, or running, or walking you have options and plenty of space to do your thing. Plenty of parking at both Regents and Balboa.

Parking off of Genesee provides about 30 spaces and open until 8pm. Bathroom and water fountain by the entrance. Trail is wide, unpaved dirt with few stretches of pebbles. Great for walking, running, and biking. No steep climbing except the short downhill at the start. Pond near the entrance can be crosses easily with the help of rocks on your right. Many trees provide shade. Also benches along the path if you want to take a break. Trail branches out couple times, but we stayed on "Limerick" trail. It must be that season because we saw many caterpillars hanging from the tree, and crawling on the ground. The only downside is the constant road noise, but you can still hear the birds.

Another great gem for a hike nestled between neighborhoods and freeways. As other reviewers say, decent sized lot off Genesee with bathroom and water fountain. Mostly flat trail until you hit the loop to the far east by the 805 and 52 exchange. If you head north around the loop by Limerick road that you can see dotted on Google Maps, note there is a rather steep section right at the north - northeastern section of the loop. Go clockwise if you want to climb UP, and go counterclockwise if you want to slide down on your butt, which was me. Good unexpected arm work out though.
