It's a very large, highly rated zoo with many unique animals. Bring your walking shoes and your sun block. Temperature is often cool because San Diego, but the sun is hot. Some areas of shade though in the park so that's nice. Wonderful for kids and families, but it does get crowded in the summer. Be sure and check out the sister Safari Park too!

Having visited the Moscow Zoo and the Bronx Zoo, I can confidently say the San Diego Zoo is the absolute best! The variety of animals, from majestic giraffes to adorable koalas, is incredible. The park is beautifully maintained, and the atmosphere is vibrant with exciting tours and conservation efforts. A standout feature for me was the popcorn refill option for just $3—such a delightful and affordable treat! With a 4.7-star rating from over 62,000 reviews, it’s clear this zoo is a must-visit. Highly recommend booking in advance to make the most of this unforgettable experience!

World class zoo and botanical garden. The Animals in Action upgrade was totally worth it. The guided bus tour, however, isn’t worth the wait in line, but if you do go on it, the view is better from the right hand side. There’s do much to see that one day is not enough. Other tips: arrive early, buy your refillable cup at the beginning, and focus on indoor experiences as the day gets warmer.

Truly, this is an incredible place. A stunning array of natures finest living things in well managed exhibits. and shows too! The diversity of animals, insects, reptiles, aquatic species, and plant/tree species is really breathtaking and fascinating... Everywhere you look is a special, unique, and beautiful example of Earths splendor and fullness. The animals and the trees are absolutely spectacular to observe so closely. Be prepared to walk. My wife and I did 12,000 steps total that day. We saw almost all of the exhibits, but be prepared that the pathways are somewhat cryptic and it's easy to miss things. The winding paths are sort of a maze, and every corner provides a new thing to see. There is a great balance and flow of the ecosystems represented, and the animals looked to be well cared for. The staff all seemed happy to be there and friendly. The food was as expensive as expected (~$40 for two entrees +$8 reusable water bottle). The overall experience was amazing, and I definitely recommend seeing it both in the morning and evening because many of the animals like their siesta during the hot parts of the day. It was honestly so beautiful walking among the huge, shady trees, and the free gondola offers incredible views of the park.
