Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a vibrant, family-owned amusement park nestled along the sandy shores of Monterey Bay in Northern California. Established in 1907, it holds the distinction of being California’s oldest surviving amusement park and one of the few remaining seaside parks on the West Coast. The Boardwalk offers an exceptional blend of historic charm and modern attractions, anchored by two National Historic Landmarks: the iconic 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster and the 1911 Looff Carousel, both treasured for their heritage and thrilling experiences. Visitors enjoy a wide range of rides, indoor arcades featuring the largest game selection in Northern California, a two-story miniature golf course, laser tag, and a family bowling center nearby. The park’s location on a scenic beach within the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary affords guests beautiful ocean views and opportunities to see wildlife like sea otters, dolphins, and whales just offshore. Beyond rides, the Boardwalk is famous for its unique local food offerings, such as secret-recipe corn dogs, deep-fried artichokes, and chocolate-covered bacon. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk has always been a special place for our family, filled with great memories. The area is clean, the staff are friendly, and there’s no shortage of fun activities to enjoy. It’s been about five years since our last visit, and although some rides have changed, the Boardwalk remains an amazing place to explore. There are plenty of shopping spots and dining options to suit everyone. Parking is $35 for the entire day, but if you’re not planning to stay that long, I recommend using the parking meters instead. They accept quarters and also offer convenient online payment options. The Casino Arcade is packed with entertainment, including classic pinball machines, pool tables, and video games. There’s even a challenging indoor miniature golf course. The beach area is clean, though keep in mind the water tends to be cold year-round. The Boardwalk is also within walking distance of the Wharf, where you’ll find souvenir shops, local merchandise, and opportunities to see seals resting along the dock. You can even rent paddleboards and canoes nearby for more adventure. This place continues to be a wonderful destination for families and visitors of all ages.

Wonderful place with a peaceful beach and an amusement park. Lots of parking in the lot in front of the boardwalk. At the boardwalk, there is lots of noise and as you move towards the beach the peacefulness of the ocean takes over. The best part is there is a foot wash to clean the sand . Garlic fries were really good, I wish they had it in sauce form too would have made it another favorite. Overall it was a peaceful experience

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a nostalgic blast of sunshine, screams, and the smell of funnel cakes in the air. We had an absolute blast riding the Giant Dipper—still one of the best wooden coasters out there! The whole place feels like stepping into a timeless summer. From spinning rides and arcade games to the perfect boardwalk snacks (corn dogs, garlic fries, deep-fried Oreos—yes, please!), it was everything we hoped for. There’s something special about eating cotton candy while watching the waves crash just steps away. Whether you’re there for thrill rides or just a laid-back beach day with good food and family fun, this place nails it. Can’t wait to come back!

Free admission to the boardwalk, lots of food and drink options and on the beach. This is a great spot. The Giant Dipper is an awesome 100 year old coaster. I also recommend the bumper cars and the aerial tram. If those are the only rides you do, buy points for a card and not an all day pass.

I recently visited Santa Cruz Beach and Broadway, and it was such a fun and memorable experience! The beach was beautiful, clean, and full of life perfect for relaxing or just enjoying the view. The atmosphere was vibrant and happening, with so many people around having a great time. There were street performers, music, and lots of energy all around. The boardwalk added to the charm with fun rides, great food stalls, and plenty to explore. It’s a great spot for families, friends, or even solo travelers. I loved walking along the shore and soaking in the coastal vibe. There was never a dull moment always something to see or do. The weather was perfect, which made the visit even better. Overall, it was a fantastic day full of fun, great views, and awesome memories
