Drove into the city to visit this spot I saw had a received a James Beard award. Wow! It did not disappoint!! In all honesty, I thought they only served drinks and maybe a few small bites. I was mistaken! Cocktails were amazing, but so was the food!! Loved the ricotta and the tagliatelle. All staff were super attentive and they ensured we truly enjoyed our cocktails and plates. To top it off, my husband left his sunglasses at the restaurant and we were headed to the airport. They mailed the glasses to us. Fantastic customer service! Looking forward to returning on our next trip to Oregon!

If I could give this place 100 stars I would, I think it’s genuinely the most delicious meal I’ve had in a long time. Started with the whipped ricotta and arancini - both equally incredible. So rich and flavorful but also light enough that you can enjoy the rest of the meal. The bread it comes with is excellent as well. The beet salad was great but the papardalle was incredible. Definitely recommend adding the candied duck, it was a great addition. The seaweed butter sauce is hardy and delicious, need a bowl of that for every meal. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Portland. Can’t recommend it enough, go try!!

First off, the pandan old fashioned was one of the best drinks I've had. If I return, it'll be because of that drink. The place itself looks really classy and romantic. I decided to bring my old friend from out of town here to celebrate my birthday. We waited 15 minutes for them to open to be able to get a seat without reservations. The hostess didn't even greet us as she opened the door and put the sign out. Since we didn't have reservations, she said they could sit us at the bar. I happily accepted, thinking the place was about to fill up and we were right to get there early. After ordering drinks and an app, it became apparent that we were still the only ones in the bar. I felt like ordering most of the menu like I'd planned would have been clumsy at the bar. So, we left to eat dinner elsewhere, leaving the bar empty-soon to be slammed, I'm sure. I'd recommend a reservation if you want to have a table. Maybe dress up.

Third visit. At the bar. Best seat in this intimate whisky bar. So... Food: Playful plating Service: Respect-the-craft Atmosphere: Just-add-tartan elegance I love that the food is elevated. It’s Scotch Lodge’s big differentiator from other bars. Presentation is stunning. Dishes are daring — bold, like lads. Food-and-drink pairing gets tricky (because whisky). Art-in-glass cocktails (Moonage Daydream, Quiet Gardener) — great with simple snacks (bread, almonds). There IS wine: Domaine Brazilier Brut — holds up well with big-flavor snacks (like Arancini) and delicate Scallop Crudo. Whisky with dessert. Who knew? Quick take on dishes: Brussel sprouts: Tender jade-green hearts under brittle bud leaves, pale sauce. Scallop Crudo: Delightful flavor and texture islands on a playground of mauve, orange, and white. Arancini: Golden golf-ball-size bites with zig-zag avocado sauce. Love the frisée texture and bitterness. Needs an acid spritz for balance. For sweets: Semifreddo — bit of a miss — too freddo. The “alphas” Oreo and Huckleberry annihilated the pistachio flavor. BUT…Here’s where the Scotch Lodge magic happened. What to pair with dessert, I asked (when you’re a mere lass at whisky)? Nathan, the bartender — an attentive and lovely soul craftsman — recommended the 17-year-old Glenfarclas, telling us the story of going to Glenfarclas for his 40th to drink their 40-year-old Whisky… One ounce neat. Every tastebud tingling. “Guid night an sweit dreams.”

Perfection! The Ahi was amazing, the favor combinations are spot on. We went for dinner and split a few small plates so we could try more of the menu. We enjoyed Brussels sprouts and Radicchio Salad that were a delight. We finished up ordering both desserts on the menu, both were outstanding, the chocolate cake was the winner in my opinion. Extensive offerings for those who want to do scotch tasting and a few mocktails for non drinkers. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We opted to sit at the kitchen bar. The kitchen staff was focused, polite and a delight to watch! A top notch experience!
