Fake name for the review since I’m still in the program. Let me say this I went to their transitional housing for emergency shelter right they have so many rooms open in the shelter. They pick and choose who they want to help. They don’t like helping homeless moms with kids. They put me in a hotel for a week and told me the shelter was full and they can’t help they send people to Dallas life. Worse shelter to send moms with babies too. You have to know someone to actually get into this shelter. This place don’t help they just toss you to the next shelter to deal with you. Mind you RUTH is the worst case manager to work with. She don’t email u back she don’t call you. You can’t never get a hold of her for nothing. She gets paid to not do nothing. They lie in your little case meetings. They claim they don’t have a shelter or transitional housing as of Friday. I literally went there before lol for emergency help it has family gateway on the shelter door. They claim they can only help families for a week and that’s all. Ridiculous. This place shouldn’t be open.

I went to Family Gateway in Dallas just to get a birth certificate… denied. These agencies get state funding to fight poverty and homelessness — but when a Black person shows up, the door closes. THIS is why so many of us are stuck without resources. It’s not laziness. It’s not coincidence. It’s manufactured just eating chilling and denying people cause they don’t care

I wouldn't give them a start if I could not because they didn't help but because they just never returned my calls. Denied me assistance because IDK why. Lied about qualifications after I meet them then I don't hear back. I tried twice in two months. They want to traffic you strong the city like a charity case and refer you to a shelter when they have the means to help you. Elvira is a mean ol nasty batch of cookies. Rotten she only helps her race of people from what I can see. All the others are puppets that follow along the puppet masters. This place is a joke so if you honestly need help be prepared to get the run around. They love to play God in ppls lives. Have mercy on their souls

They gave me a run around for a week.. I put in the assessment and I was told they could help me pay my carry days (I’m paying to stay at another shelter) and to call back on my exit date for the other shelter I’m in. My exit date was Sunday, I went up there Saturday and they said they needed an exit letter from the shelter before they could help me. They want me to leave the shelter I’m at before they can pay the shelter I’m currently at… and once I leave the shelter I can’t stay with them for 3 days then I’m on my own. I call them on my exit day early in the morning to confirm, the lady said the supervisor has to look at it and she would call me back; she didn’t. So I called again the same day, then they said “the supervisor is on lunch and she will be back soon &she will call you back”, she didn’t so I called again… and when I called the third time they said the person who can help is going to be there Monday and she can’t do anything unless I’m in there program.

They will not let you in unless you have "ties" to Dallas is what I was told May 15th 2025 at 3:20pm by the hispanic/latino receptionist broad. So unless you have been in Dallas for 30 days they will leave you and your children outside. These people and their requirements make me just want to..... They choose certain people to overlook daily operations based on their education and certifications but failed miserably when it comes to knowing what "the community" really needs all while lacking common sense. They claim they are helping when in actuality they are doing more harm than helping, it's an attack on the poor right now so just a ⚠️ . I hope and pray this place gets shut down just like other places that do not help at all. Waste of money, waste of jobs, just wasted 😒 should have built a liquor store or sumn instead of having to deal with people like this
