As a Minnesota native of Scandinavian descent, I could not have loved this place more (I had no idea Seattle had so much nordic heritage). The whole place looks like it belongs in a Viking longship, and you can tell how much effort was put into all the details. They had a good beer selection, a bunch of tasty meads, and aquavit cocktails (the Odin Fashioned was delicious). Plus, they have some fun surprises like the shot sword.

Mac n Cheese is the best that I've had in Seattle yet. The pretzel is GIANT and the perfect texture - the beer cheese is, unfortunately, worth the $4 upgrade. We got farmer's cheese, duck hearts, and venison skewers. I think that the farmer's cheese is actually halloumi? Either way, everything was delicious. Inside makes you feel like you're in Skyrim. They have a wide selection of board games. Barman was super nice, service was great! 10/10 will come back and bring friends.

We knew that Ballard is known for it's scandinavian heritage, so when we were driving pass we had to give this place a try. It was rather hard finding parking on a Saturday evening around 6pm, we had to circle the block(s) a couple times to finally found a spot. As soon as we enter, it was a very lively place! The place seemed full but when we walked further in, fortunately there was a couple seat at the bar. Husband is Danish so he ordered the danish mead and Carlsberg for his drinks, I got myself peach raspberry cider and lemonade. For food we ordered the meatballs and the fries. Meatballs were so so and a bit dry, had to dip it in the gravy and with the jam a lot to not taste the dryness. The fries were excellent, flavorful and fried up perfectly. Husband really liked the danish mead drink! Waitress and waiter were friendly and attentive. Definitely a fun place to visit and we will come back a different time to try the feast!

I booked half of Skal for my 50th birthday. I ordered the roast suckling pig and the Gjetost Cheesecake for me and 30+ of my friends. Adam and his team were very attentive and helpful in setting up the event and then hosting it. Because we were gathering at a Scandinavian beer hall with long tables, a huge fireplace with a carving of Odin overhead, we, of course, were all dressed up in Viking kits. The feast was excellent and a good deal as far as I am concerned. Big celebrations aside, my friends and I gather here often for dinner/drinks. They have great talks there too. Highly recommend!
