Was absolutely great until they kicked out my friend. It’s very dark inside, and she took a half step stumble down from the dancing section to the bar/bathroom area and IMMEDIATELY security was on us kicking her out. I appreciate kicking people out when they’re too drunk to function, but it’s insane to kick out people who paid both for drinks and a cover for a slight misstep? I’m pissed about the experience. Won’t be returning.

Went for a DJ set. Really amazing sound, vibe, atmosphere. However, there were no water stations, no tap water available at the bar, no drinking fountains - only $3 water bottles which i begrudgingly bought one of and refilled in the bathroom sink. It should be a crime to not have readily available free water to bar/venue guests. Do better!

So much fun. Dance floor was moving , so refreshing seeing lots of motion and little to no phones out. We arrived late and stayed till close but the DJ was killing it . Sound system is awesome and the lighting as well. Drinks were a little expensive ( duh you’re in Chicago ) so i recommend a little pre game. If you’re going to pay a cover in Chicago this is the place to pay that cover for. Please know the Door is CASH ONLY though. You go through security and then when you’re inside you pay at a booth. There’s an atm run by metro across the street that has a $3 withdrawal fee. But the bar did take card . Smartbar seems very welcoming to everyone, just don’t be an ahole or creep and you’ll have a good time. I will say majority of clubs only have bad reviews online cause lots of people don’t tend to leave reviews at all , whether they’re good or bad. It’s very sad seeing places like this fade from existence in Chicago , and I think this is what younger people want from clubbing but maybe they don’t know about this place? I’m not sure . I took some of my friends who live in the city who had never been and they loved it. I think everyone’s tired of the new clubs , I know I am. Smartbar I hope you stay around forever, I’ll be back.
