I bought a pair of flip-flops from this store just a couple of hours ago and started wearing them right away. As you can see in the photo I attached, the sandals caused a serious issue with my foot. I asked if I could exchange them for another model, but the staff refused, saying they had already been used. Of course they were I bought them to wear. But the fact that they hurt my foot so quickly should have been enough reason to allow an exchange, at least for the sake of customer safety. This experience made it clear to me that customer well-being is not a priority at this business, which is truly disappointing

The Manager and staff at South Coast Surf Shop really do provide excellent customer service. My cousin and I had a little surf problem that we needed help with and the manager Ira wasted no time in helping us out. I've been a customer of theirs for over 15 years and will always bring them my business first. Aside from the wonderful customer service they also offer a full supply of surf equipment at competitive prices. Whether you only need some wax or a new board this summer be sure to give South Coast a try. 10 out of 10, I recommend!

I never leave reviews, but I feel like this one is needed. Very disappointed Nice shop and staff. Quick and easy surf rentals. However, they refuse to wax the soft top boards that I rented (even if they are beginners' boards, that need it even more) just because they want to keep it like new. I was in San Diego for three weeks and came several times (almost every two days) to this shop to rent a board as I was trying to practice and learn to surf. I'm a beginner and rented a soft top board. The first day was hard and slippery and I realized afterwards that they didn't wax the board + the leash was damaged. The day after, I asked that they wax it and they told me They couldn't because that board didn't need wax. I trusted them and rented several times this way. On the weekend I went to their other location in Pacific beach. Their soft top boards definitely were waxed, they even offered to wax it more before I rented it. The surfing was way easier. I then checked the boards' website and it said that those boards "should be waxed, just like any other board". Going back to ocean beach, I went for another rental here and told them that other rental shops I had tried in the meantime waxed those boards and even their other same store in Pacific beach does too. Just like the instructions said. That's when they finally admitted that they know the other stores do, and their other location too, but they don't want to wax their soft top boards here because "they are for beginners and waxing them would damage them quicker but they want to keep them longer". So they refused to let me wax it. They told me I can buy my own board and wax it if I want to, but they wouldn't their rentals. (Of course every beginner will buy a board, especially coming from across the ocean) First pretending, because I'm a beginner that those boards don't need wax and finally admitting they just refuse to wax it (even though they are beginners' boards, so it's even more needed !!), just because they want to keep it as new as possible long enough. So disrespectful and bad service. I went to another rental shop. It's a shame.
