NEVER GET INVOLVED WITH SUWA! This organization does not want fair land use, or common sense solutions to problems in Utah. SUWA wont stop until every off road vehicle trail is closed off, every artifact put under lock and key, every trail monitored, restricted, and a fee required to use it. To reduce the American west to this absolute despotism would be to ignore the freedom and individuality that makes the American west such a beautiful place to begin with. If you would like to get involved with an organization that promotes common sense solutions, fair land use, and actual preservation, I recommend you check out the Blue Ribbon Coalition.

I am a third generation Utahn and have spent my early life exploring Utah's redrock country for my dads job. I am now taking my own children to the desert and throughout Utah to share all of the special places I was shown by my father and his father before him. Utah is a very special place and needs to be protected. Our family Jeeps, mountain bikes, rock climbs, canyoneers, hikes, and rafts. I am grateful that there are organizations like SUWA out there protecting this amazing state. If an area gets closed to one of our favorite activities, its because of people misusing an area (not staying on the trail, cutting down trees for fires in illegal fire rings, trammeling through areas with cryptobiotic crust, etc) and not just because SUWA wants to. I have seen this destruction first hand dozens of times during volunteer trips to help clean up the messes and repair the destruction that so many perpetrate on the land. Instead of placing so much negativity and hate on a non profit trying to make a positive difference, how about all you get out there and educate your fellow recreationalists on how to recreate with protecting the resources you are recreating on.

Redrock Utah would be COMPLETELY paved over for strip malls, chain restaurants, and cheaply constructed Ivory homes without SUWA and a number of other excellent organizations working to protect the land, water and air of this country's most beautiful state.
