May 21, 2025: Concord Market, newly opened inside the MIT Student Center where LaVerde’s used to be, is a huge upgrade in both style and substance. From the moment you walk in, you’ll notice how much cleaner and more spacious it feels. The wide aisles, polished layout, and modern displays give the space a more upscale vibe while still serving the practical needs of the MIT community. What really sets it apart is the variety. There’s a full fresh produce section—everything from vibrant bell peppers and crisp apples to herbs and carrots—all neatly arranged and well-stocked. A surprisingly good spice and pantry section lines the shelves, and they even sell fresh flower bouquets, adding a touch of charm you don’t expect from a campus convenience store. The hot food bar is another highlight. For $9.99, you can grab satisfying comfort food like fried chicken, mac and cheese, mozzarella sticks, and three kinds of burritos (beef, chicken, and veggie), all self-serve. It’s a solid lunch or dinner option for under $10. You’ll also find prepared salads at just $7.99 and a refrigerated section offering everything from Indian entrees like saag paneer and chicken vindaloo to pasta sauces and sausages. Drinks are also thoughtfully curated, with genuinely ice-cold brewed tea and coffee available for a refreshing pick-me-up. Overall, Concord Market brings the best of a neighborhood grocery and a college grab-and-go spot under one roof. Clean, affordable, and packed with variety—it’s a fantastic addition to the MIT campus. June 26, 2023: Previous review: Student Center is clean, light. and spacious. There are plenty of tables and chairs on the first and second floor for people to socialize or study. LaVerde's the small grocery market, Dunkins, and the Coop are still on the first floor. The furniture is new and fresh.

MIT student Center has historically always been a place of gathering and openness however the Institute as a whole is now extremely limited, censored, under lock (including the chapel which used to be open to everybody 4 worship board meditation or just to sit at any time of night or day), revealing that MIT has gone mainstream like other universities, and sacrificed its ultimate openness for creativity and innovation, to finance and wealth creation.... That's not the MIT I knew and attended, and a tragic shift after 125 years of its existence.

The student center is a great spot on campus to hang out and work. The building recently got renovated and looks really clean and modern with a cool mezzanine. There are a couple of dining options including a Dunkin’ on the first floor and a variety of stores on the second. The second floor also has a cafeteria with plenty of seating options. There are plenty of open spaces to study on all floors, but I highly recommend the 5th floor for students - it has lots of seating and even small rooms with whiteboards for group activities.

A great place to study! No words can describe the Inspiration!

Although not a very prominent building, this is where the guided tours start. Essentially, it also houses a library, an eating area/cafeteria and a few places to work. A bit outdated , and can get crowded at times. Notably landmarks nearby are the 'Alchemist' sculpture infront, as well as the Chapel and Auditorim nearby.
