Sick little gravel trail for the first 5 miles or so then you get to ride this beautiful paved path the rest of the way up. A nice punishing climb for the last mile that will make you contemplate life but will be super satisfied at the top. Great for all levels.

Sullivan Canyon is located right off Sunset with a climb into a neighborhood where you can find the trailhead. This is not a climbing type of hike and perfect for trail bikes. It is a long trail with plenty of tree coverage in areas. It is beautiful in the fall, winter, and spring but can get hot in the summer. There are some swings located on the trail...and it is a beautiful hike. Parking can be tough since you have to park in the neighborhood. Be careful some neighbors don't like it if you park by their homes. It is very dog friendly and the people who hike the trail are friendly.

The two past Saturdays (3/8/25 and 3/15/25) the trail was accessible: not marked as closed (which it has been for most of the past two years). I hiked it, encountering several other hikers and bikers. The condition of the trail is pretty bad. Piles of gravel and rubble. Several places where you have to clamber around or look for the correct path. Lots of patches with running water. But it is still a great trail if you are careful. A good distance, comfortable slope, away in nature, with some shelter from the sun. Not sure if it is technically closed or not -- various websites disagree.

Great trail for MTB (bring your bell(s)). Watch where you park. Enforcement is highly monitored. Sullivan canyon trail takes you up to Dirt Mulholland and Nike Missile tower where there are great views. There is a restroom near the tower with a working payphone. Take a trip back in time on this journey to the top. Enjoy!
