We missed the M9 and decided to hustle over a block for rice rolls over at Sun Hing Lung Ho Fun Tofu - and we’re so glad we did. Only in Chinatown can you get so much good food for 4 people (we only have 3 but one is a teen!) for less than $20! We ordered the dried shrimp rice roll (yummy and has fresh green onion!!!), fresh shrimp rice roll, beef rice roll, pork rice roll, fresh tofu, and decided to try the jelly they had stacked on a table (it’s jello that comes with a sweet sauce to pour on top) and the grand total was less than $20! This isn’t Cheung Fun Noodles but the variety and kindness of the nice woman at the window made this just as great! Definitely a must go for rice rolls if you’re shopping at the grocery and hangry :)

Very authentic spot! I came around 10 AM—no line, and only waited about 3 minutes for the fresh veggie rice rolls. I wanted to try the fried tofu, but they were out, so the lady kindly offered me the sweet tofu instead—and it was so good! I totally see why this place is so popular with locals. I found it through TikTok and was not disappointed—super fresh, delicious, and only $5? Wow!!!

Sun Hing Lung/Plain Steamed Rice Roll: The service was fast and friendly and the employee was very nice. But, unfortunately this spot is out to lunch (no pun intended). My gut was in a knot when I saw how deserted the line was because there wasn’t any. And it was confirmed when my order looked like discolored cabbage and tasted as bland as unseasoned rice; even the soy sauce didn’t help.

CASH ONLY. For the price, this is an excellent rice roll that is SUPER QUICK. No more waiting 40 minutes at any other location. The ladies working here will get your order in 3-5 minutes flat. I highly recommend the egg rice roll and add scallions. They also keep sauces outside that are all delicious: hoisin, peanut sauce, soy sauce, and sriracha. I personally just added all 4 and it was delicious. This is really great for the price and might now be my go to spot when I need this.

The variety of high-quality fillings like dried shrimp, pork, or egg caters to diverse preferences, enhancing the overall experience. Additionally, Sun Hing Lung complements their rice rolls with flavorful sauces that offer a range of taste profiles—from nutty to spicy—allowing patrons to customize their bites. Visiting earlier in the day is highly recommended, as the shop opens at 7:30 AM but closes by 3 PM, and popular items may sell out quickly. Cash-only payment is standard, so bringing enough cash avoids inconvenience. Because of the lack of seating, groups can bring portable stools or plan to explore nearby spots to sit or stand together while enjoying their food. Another tip is to order an assortment of rice rolls and sauces, encouraging a shared tasting experience that can be both fun and educational for those new to these flavors. Planning to visit on weekdays may also avoid the weekend crowds for a more relaxed meetup. Lastly, since food is best enjoyed fresh and warm, groups should plan to eat promptly to experience the full richness of the dishes.

Fillings are thoughtfully chosen to provide an authentic flavor profile, including tiny dried shrimp that add umami depth, savory pork, or rich egg. Beyond rice rolls, their tofu products, such as tofu puffs, are notable for their unique texture that is both soft and springy, offering a pleasant contrast to the rice rolls.
