I think it's a shame that more people don't post their experiences here. tbh, I think everyone wants to keep this place a secret. The amount of talent and quality that is produced and housed in this studio is unbelievable. Hands down the absolute best studio recording experience I've ever had! Tom has the most impeccable ear for quality and refuses to produce anything less. He might be opinionated, but that's what makes him so valuable. He pushes clients to be their best and brings out the finer details that can make or break any production. If you are looking for a place to take your music to the next level, look no further. You will definitely get more value than you bargained for!

Avoid this studio at all costs! I live in Los Angeles and wanted to record some tracks with a bass player who lived in Phoenix. Tom wanted a deposit upfront for 10 hours, so I paid him, set up time for the session, and drove 6 hours to Phoenix for the session. We had reserved a block of 4 hours, but when we showed up to record, Tom said that he had another gig in Northern Arizona and would only be available for an hour or so. We did what we could and could never pin down Tom for another session while I was in town. He would make promise after promise and never follow through. This whole fiasco cost me a lot of time and money, including the drive and two nights in a motel. The bass player also kept hounding him for studio time after I left and only got the run around. I would sue Tom in small claims court, but frankly, it's not worth the time or the aggravation. I wish that I could rate TallCat Studios with negative stars, but that isn't an option. This is the most unprofessional studio that I have ever worked with.

A friend and I had met Tom after asking for a tour of the studio. He was kind and answered all of our questions on that first visit and offered a reasonable price to record as well as to produce a track. After a few months we decided to start recording and a rough copy of the song was sent to Tom for him to produce for us. He agreed to do so for a great price and so we paid him upfront and after a couple of reschedulings (from both parties) I was finally able to make it in to record a rough copy of the vocals. In the studio everything seemed to go well aside from a couple of technical difficulties that Tom was able to fix after several attempts. I informed him that the song had to be produced and recorded by the end of the month (due to a deposit being put down on a music video for the song) and he agreed to expedite the service. He did tell me he'd be out of town the following week but he'd start working on it as soon as possible and assured me we'd meet the deadline. After a week and a half I contacted him asking for a progress report, but no response. My friend tried calling him, texting him, emailing him, everything he could to try and get a hold of him to no avail. The deadline was drawing near for the deposit to be forfeited and the beat wasn't even made yet let alone the final vocals even being recorded. Tom didn't even give us the courtesy of responding to our many messages. If he even just told us he was unable to do it by the deadline and refunded us, we could've found another studio to record the song. Thankfully I was able to work with the music video studio who didn't forfeit the deposit and they even referred us to a different studio who was able to complete the song in less than a week. I had such high hopes for Tall Cat Studios because of the great reviews and good first impression of Tom, but unfortunately not was all as it seemed. I'm hoping Tom behaves more professionally with future clients and doesn't end up scamming anyone else, whether it's intentional or not.
