One of my favorite spots in the area. Great short trails. Picnic tables by the pond are great for enjoying the view while relaxing, Trailside Nature Museum is great to take kids. I saw a heron catching fish, bullfrogs, turtles and families of geese with their babies this spring.

Trail is amazing and I think a good place to fish at, trails are not littered nor abused nothing out of ordinary but deers looking at you in a way you might think to you're self "I'm being judged" type vibe. Got a video of the deer and their pups. Expect to run across unleashed dogs. There are no mosquitoes which was amazing and that'll wrap up the review.

A nice Cook County Forest Preserve with unpaved trails through woodlands and floodplain forest. A main trail goes along the east side of the Des Plaines River. Some huge trees here, including oaks and hackberry. Wildlife, especially birds and deer are easy to see. Trailside Museum, a small free nature museum is located on the eastern edge of the Preserve. There is a couple picnic groves and a shelter, and a large, rentable Pavilion building for parties and special events.

Keep in mind I only went for the forest reserve, I didn't have to pay anything because I didn't hold an event here. If you plan to, I would contact the Parks and rec department. But I did have a fantastic 3 hour walk around the woods. Quiet, uncrowded, beautiful fall foliage, cool little railroad track in the woods...it was exactly what I was looking for.
