The type of place that every neighborhood needs. Great food, great service, great drinks. There's not much else you could ask for. Their rotating specials are always fantastic and their Vietnamese Wings are must try.

Chicken salad sandwich was so delicious. It had the same homemade pickles they use in the fried pickles which were AMAZING with the sauce. It had some horseradish and something Smokey on the back end, very good. Brunch huervos rancheros was really good. Again everything tasted homemade. Mourning dove needed more lime but after that it was great. No wait for for the brunch Sunday around 1. Outside and indoor seating. Chris was our server and he did an awesome job. We plan to come back once a month now to try the whole menu.

Excited to try this place after seeing the reviews. Great parking in the back and back entrance. plenty of seating inside and out. Add some umbrellas over outside seating to block sun. Clean and cool restaurant design with adequate restrooms. Umbrella holder at the entrance was Clutch on this rainy day. I like that there is no greeter and you walk in and sit where you like. The server will come to you. Makes it feel Home. I sat at the bar with bartender Caleb, he was exceptional. Very clear on the specials. There were so many specials they could have made a new menu with them. That does force the server to remember a lot of things, but as a foodie, I was pleasantly pleased with the variety on the menu already along with the specials. I was super undecided, but I chose the Korean wings and a burger with tots. Korean wings-very crispy and flavorful, I can see why they’re a hit. Great portion and high-level execution. The peanuts and jalapeño with the sauce was top-tier. They came out blazing hot. So much steam from the wings-It looked like I had a vape pen. Took about 15 minutes, which wasn’t bad for quality. I couldn’t eat them all and took some to-go. One con- they are very jumbo wings as some of the drums were almost like a leg, lol but for these to be jumbo, they may have been of the best I have ever had and I’ve had a lot of chicken. I’m interested to try their lemon pepper And smoked wings also. Caleb allowed me to add the ingredients from the turkey burger to my beef burger. The burger was delicious. Excellent bread choice and quality of meat. Good price and value for what I received. The toppings were great. After finishing the burger, I realized that they didn’t put the bacon on it. The burger was so good, I wasn’t even mad. If I would have eaten it there, I would have gotten the bacon and it would’ve been even better so I didn’t knock a star for that. In a blessed spirit this Sunday morning. Field peas and corn succotash was a miss. It’s light, healthier option and appreciated at a bar, but it wasn’t cohesive or memorable. I feel like there’s enough skill back there to update this dish or change to an okra stew, crispy okra, Brussels, peas only, Mexican corn or something else healthy, flavorful, and for the vegans. I like this place. I’d recommend and come back. If you get one lunch meal with water, you can escape with tip and tax under $30 but most people get a drink or another item and end up paying $35-$40 per person before tip. You decide! Smart menu pricing.

Super cute corner eatery. I've passed by it many times, headed into midtown, and finally got an opportunity to try it. Self seating, indoor, outdoor, or bar available. Sat outside because it's a whole vibe. Quick friendly service. Decent pricing, lots of options. Great portions and good flavors! Enjoyed tremendously and hope to return.

My favorite eat spot on from our weekend in Atlanta. This place was amazing. Even in a rainy Sunday afternoon this restaurant is adorable and welcoming! The team working here seemed to tag team to ensure their guest were tended to. The menu is full of some fun foodie vibe options. Beer and cocktail selection was great! Loved that they offered local craft beer options! Our little food family ordered the vietamese wings, birria grilled cheese, and the Philly cheese steak…. My favorite was the wings. We will definitely be coming back for our next weekend out this way!

What activities are available at The Companion that make it perfect for group meetups?
At The Companion, the activities are centered on sharing a meal and drinks, which naturally fosters connection and a fun group dynamic. During daytime hours, it functions like a cozy coffee shop where you can bring your laptop and work alongside your friends or simply catch up over expertly brewed single-origin coffees. This makes it a great spot for friends who want a productive social gathering, perhaps mixing business and pleasure. As the day progresses into evening, the atmosphere shifts seamlessly into an all-day wine bar vibe, ideal for relaxed dinners or casual friend dates. Although there isn’t a physical bar counter, the layout with mostly two-top tables encourages intimate conversations in small groups, but the lively, warm energy impacts the whole room — perfect for groups that like to swap seats and mingle. The menu offerings, such as the noteworthy chicken parmesan with mashed potatoes or a surprisingly crispy and soft focaccia, provide comfort food that appeals to a wide range of tastes, making it easy to please everyone in your party. This balance of daytime calm and nighttime buzz makes it an excellent choice for groups with diverse interests and energy levels.
How does The Companion’s food and drink selection enhance the group experience?
The Companion serves a variety of Cal-Italian dishes that are hearty yet approachable, which works well when dining with a group since everyone can find something to their liking. Its pizzas and pastas, including a thick chicken parmesan and a little gem Caesar salad with focaccia croutons, are great for sharing and enjoying communal plates. The quality is consistent without being overly complicated, which appeals to many groups looking for satisfying comfort food that doesn’t demand intense culinary contemplation. The wine selection, noted for featuring orange wines and other interesting varietals, adds a sophisticated touch that complements the food and elevates the overall experience. Sharing a glass or bottle encourages a convivial spirit among groups, allowing friends to linger over conversation and laughter. Plus, the all-day availability of these dishes and drinks ensures flexibility — a group can start with coffee or lunch and easily extend into a long evening wine session without needing to switch venues. This culinary versatility is invaluable for meetups where plans evolve on the fly or stretch across several hours.
What makes the ambiance and layout of The Companion suitable for group gatherings?
The Companion’s ambiance is defined by a cheery, wood-raftered dining room that creates a warm, inviting environment perfect for social interaction. The design avoids the sterile or overly formal vibe some restaurants have, incorporating natural elements and a casual chic décor that makes guests feel instantly comfortable. The predominance of two-top tables might initially seem like a limitation for large groups, but it actually facilitates flexible seating arrangements and conversational intimacy, as parties can easily be split or combined depending on group size. The venue’s overall feel attracts a young, millennial crowd that appreciates a relaxed but trendy setting — often seen enjoying friend dates with orange wine — which generates lively energy that enhances any group gathering. The space encourages people to savor the moment and the company, making it more than just a place to eat but a destination for meaningful social connections. Even without a traditional bar, the lively atmosphere feels inclusive and buzzing, helping groups feel part of a bigger communal vibe while maintaining the space to focus on each other.
Why is The Companion a convenient and practical choice for hosting meetups?

Its location on Lincoln Boulevard, Venice, places it in a lively neighborhood that is easy to get to and well-known for food and drink options, making it a natural destination to suggest for meetups. While reservations might be necessary to secure a table due to its popularity, this also means that groups can plan ahead and avoid long waits, ensuring a smooth arrival experience. The all-day nature of the cafe-bar hybrid means you are not constrained by strict meal times or closed hours, so your group can gather whenever it suits them best — be it a late breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee, or dinner with drinks. The staff’s attentiveness, as noted in many reviews, further makes the experience stress-free and welcoming. This combination of location, flexible hours, and customer care simplifies meetup logistics and encourages repeated visits, as groups feel confident their experience will be enjoyable and hassle-free.
How does The Companion support different group moods and occasions?
The versatility of The Companion is one of its greatest assets for hosting gatherings because it accommodates various moods and event types with ease. For daytime meetups, it serves as a bright and lovely cafe where you can enjoy coffee, pastries, and light bites while catching up or working with friends. This setting promotes casual, low-key interactions and is well-suited for groups who want a calm environment or a blend of productivity and social time. Come evening, the shift towards an all-day wine bar with more formal dinner options means the venue can easily handle more festive, celebratory moods. Whether your group is looking to commemorate a special event, enjoy a leisurely night out with excellent pizza and wine, or just have meaningful conversations over a comforting meal, The Companion adapts. This responsiveness to its patrons’ changing needs and preferences encourages inclusivity, allowing more varied group types — from casual friend circles to family gatherings — to feel at home. This adaptability is a big reason groups keep choosing The Companion for their meetups.
In what ways does The Companion foster memorable social experiences?

The laid-back yet stylish environment helps reduce social barriers and invites open, relaxed conversations that deepen friendships and connections. Offering solid, familiar dishes with interesting wine choices makes sharing meals and drinks a pleasure and a shared experience that bonds guests. The absence of a physical bar can surprisingly enhance this dynamic by pushing groups to sit together at tables designed for intimate dialogue rather than scattered seating. Furthermore, many patrons describe the venue as a place where “you should really do this more often,” highlighting the way it inspires repeat gatherings and memories. Whether catching up on long-lost friendships or simply enjoying an evening out, The Companion provides the backdrop where ordinary meetups turn into treasured traditions and fun memories.
