The drama was excellent! It was interesting and kept our attention. All the actors did a terrific job. It was a very fun show! I had the fish with rice - both were excellent. The cheesecake was amazing! The historic venue was such a wonderful surprise - I wasn't prepared for the Hearst Castle-like walls and ceilings. We were also fascinated by the vault meeting room and the huge vault door! The valet parking attendants were polite and well-trained. Such a blessing to have valet parking! WELL DONE! "

This event was extremely poorly planned and had no direction. In the confirmation email it stated there would be $20 event parking, and when we arrived and asked the hotel staff only $35 valet was available. There was no direction as where to go to attend the actual event, only the hotel address was provided. When we were to be seated and we went to our assigned table, we found it full and were left standing around for 10 minutes while they tried to figure out where to seat us, only to be put at a table where someone else was supposed to be seated and then they also had to be moved. The show itself was cringy and poorly acted, and the staff had no mics so half the time we were being shushed to hear what was going on. The food tasted old and cold like it was sitting out waiting while I was attempting to drink enough of the almost $20 drinks to enjoy myself. We honestly would have left if we hadn’t paid so much money.

My family and I went here together in the hopes of having a nice experience for the New Years. We stayed half way through (1.5 hours) and just couldn’t bear this any longer and ended up leaving early. The acting was atrocious and the food wasn’t much better. Most of the experience was these two guys just screaming the entire time. For almost $300 you would just expect a bit more...we went into it with zero expectations but for the price it was just a complete waste of time and money. This is an incredibly boring experience with people who ultimately don’t know how to act. It was a waste of our New Years. Please don’t waste your time and money here. The management here is super rude too when we let them know how we felt especially when we spoke on the phone the other day to express our concerns. The woman I spoke to basically wouldn’t let me talk and then went on an immediate rant about how highly rated they are and laughed at me saying no one ever complains about the show and didn’t listen at all to what I was saying then rudely hung up at the end saying to just email.

This was something my wife and I always wanted to try. We are so glad we picked the Dinner Detective. I was apprehensive about a bunch of stuff. Food, environment, embarrassing moments (it is interactive). You name it.. I was out of my comfort zone. All that fear was totally unfounded. We had a fantastic time. We went with my wife's two sisters and really enjoyed the whole experience. Cash bar, ample tasty appetizers.. a little bit cheesy acting.. but in the end that is necessary to hide the"plants" in the audience from real volunteer participants.. and the dinner was really good. Downtown parking.. meh. But quite easy. We are doing this again soon. Really enjoyable evening.

It was the most painful 3 hours we have experienced in our recent lives. We took our daughter on her birthday and we had to endure a great deal of bad acting and bad humor. If only they have a tighter script and better acting, it could be something there. Unfortunately not even an open bar can make us intoxicated enough to enjoy a single moment. Bummed as we actually enjoy murder mysteries ourselves.

These performers have backgrounds in renowned improv theaters such as Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City, and iO West, and have appeared in well-known TV shows and films, adding a level of polish and spontaneity to the performances. Food reviews are mixed, with some patrons enjoying the menu and others feeling it did not fully meet expectations. If you’re considering attending, it’s best to approach The Dinner Detective with an open mind focused on entertainment and group fun rather than expecting a traditional theatrical production or gourmet meal. Regardless, many groups leave with stories and laughter, which is the core appeal of the experience.

How does The Dinner Detective stand out from other murder mystery dinner shows? What sets The Dinner Detective apart is the combination of real-time unscripted performance and immersive interaction. It’s not just a show to watch but an experience you live through with your friends.
