I'm updating my review to 1 star after seeing the owner's misleading reply. I find it disingenuous to deny the recent departure of 2 long-term managers - facts I'm quite familiar with. The claim about having an 18-year veteran chef is particularly ironic given your more recent acquisition of the restaurant. Instead of deflecting criticism, I suggest focusing on addressing your staffing issues and learning to accept feedback gracefully. **Original Review:** I've been going to The Globe for 7ish years - since before they split into two spots and the Eagle Bar opened next door. Back in the day, this place was awesome. You'd walk in and someone would be right there to greet you, the servers were super friendly, and there was an amazing manager who would always stop by just to check how everything was going. The whole staff worked together to make sure everyone was having a good time. However, the last ~5 months have been rough. Sure, they spruced the place up a bit - got some new bar stools, finally fixed that wobbly bench on the wall, did some work on the TVs and such. But along with all that came some price hikes, and worse, all our favorite people left - the awesome servers, our go-to bartender, and that great manager (there is one server who’s been there since the beginning and she’s awesome, but I hardly see her anymore). These days, the service is just... yikes. There's this one newer server who literally moves like they're underwater and completely blanks us out when we try to get their attention. The last straw was about 2 months ago when my friend and I went in on a slow, mostly empty Saturday night. We sat at a table for a solid 20 minutes (not even exaggerating) trying to catch someone's eye while four different employees ignored us. We ended up bailing and going to Mrs. Murphy's & Sons instead. Funny enough, the bartender over there told us they only ever need two people behind the bar, even on their busiest nights, and they manage just fine. It really bums me out because I live right in the neighborhood and The Globe used to be my spot. They've got some serious issues to work out before I'll go back. FOOD REVIEW: I'm attaching some photos of the food I've had there in the past. Their Monte Cristo is my go-to order and favorite menu item (but it only comes with orange slices instead of fries AND they increased the price by $2). They have a variety of fries, all of which are amazing (I’ll admit that was one of the positive changes they’ve made - the curly fries are now regularly in stock as of March 2024). All of their wraps are delicious! I’d skip the mac n cheese, it lacks flavor.

Had a delicious traditional English breakfast there Sunday morning. Service was great. Closest thing you will get to the real deal in Chicago.

You want to like this place. But the bartenders refuse to look at you. It must be a “European” thing. We were looking forward to the food, told the bartender we wanted to look at the menu and then never came back. And we sat at the bar and I finished my beer, in a glass, that was clearly empty. Went 15 minutes without a glance. The bar back finally said something but I just closed out. Did t get to try the food. Update. They never put my CC with the receipt. Went back 30 minutes later and my wife’s empty beer can and the two empty beer cans from before were still there.

I was looking for a spot to watch some soccer finals games and this place came up among everything I could find! Place was great to watch the game and the selection of drinks and food were great! If you got a group id suggest getting in early to secure a table because it does fill up! Either way great spot to come have a brew and enjoy a sports game!

I'm really sad to write this review because i love the globe but, the last few times I've been, the service has just gone further downhill. Tonight, we arrived and sat at the bar. One of the bartenders gave us coasters and said he'd be back in 2 minutes. We waited 20 minutes and in that time, we watched the 4 bartenders drink 2 drinks themselves. My husband left for the bathroom and then finally I was asked if I wanted to place an order. I ordered 2 drinks, only 1 was delivered. When my husband returned they asked if he wanted something and I reminded the bartender that I had ordered him a beer. At the time I placed the drink order, I also ordered some nachos and a pretzel. Food was taking a long time to come out, which was unusual so after 20 more minutes I asked the bartender if he could check on the order. He came back with the food and said "thanks, sometimes we need a reminder". The food was cold. The cheese for the pretzel was congealed. The nachos were stone cold and I LOVE their nachos. I've actually gotten them delivered before and they arrived warmer delivered than they did tonight. It was a very disappointing experience overall. I really hope they make improvements because I love this place and don't want to see it go downhill.
