Been to a few auditions here lately, 9th and 12th floors pretty normal for the most part but this elevator is maturing and of limited conveyance. Backline varied among the rooms so check in advance, especially drummers, what’s the kit in each room.

Been renting rooms in this place for 10 years. The reason I give it 4 stars is the history and the ability to play music as loud as you want whenever you want in this iconic NYC building. 24 hour access. The decor isn't really all that pleasing around the place, and even though they did paint a few years back it could use a true power sand and paint again. The bathrooms also need a real overhaul. The elevators 'usually' work, though sometimes hard to find someone to bring the freight elevator up/down late at night. Regardless of that, it's a true gem. I really appreciate that this place is still here for us musicians. I wonder if it's considered a 'historical' building yet. Hope so as I'd hate to see them knock it down, or sell it and turn it into something else. This place is a true testament that music is still very much alive and well in NYC!

Used to live in this building from 79 to 82. Crazy building mad talent TM Stevens, l Shankar, Bush Rock with my man Delmar Brown, Vernon Reid had a band there, some of New York's best musicians lived there, and on the weekends Long Island heavy metal cats with come through, met Zappa, Al Anderson was playing with Bob Marley, Paul pesco and Madonna was there, the stones had a studio, dubway on the second floor,crazy, and also the Eurythmics I guess was recording sweet dreams we heard that song for about 6 months before it came out, not to mention some of the baddest r&b group from New York City,and half the story will never be told

Good rates but holy hell.... standing around and waiting for 30-60 minutes every time I arrive for some other random tenant to leave in order for the door to open so I can get into the building is simply baffling.
