I hate giving bad reviews but this was bad. The service is excellent by our server Ella. She was very attentive. Appetizer was the crab dip which was decent but the chips had no flavor and looked over cooked. The Fish and chips was not good at all. The cod tasted freezer burned. It was fried but the bottom looked like it had sat in it's own grease for a while. The breading fell off, not a good sign of thawing or frying. The fries were awful like fried leather with no taste and over cooked. The Condon Chicken was deep fried to a dark brown. Very unappeitizing. The only thing good was the cream potatoes and green beans. The place was packed so the food may be good. Sorry mgmt! Didn't bother saying anything because I will never be back. The menu is not for my particular taste. Good luck in your continuing endeavor.

Thought maybe would toss a review up on The Pipers. Been here many times since our 2010 arrival to Raleigh. This time The Mrs and I were in the mood for good food and maybe watch the end of The Masters. Not disappointed. She opted for the Chicken Philly (pic) (the reason for the 4 stars on service-a beef Philly came out first but they quickly replaced it) and I went with their Classic meatloaf (pic) and FANTASTIC! Rich gravy and Mashed like Mom used to make. Also The Masters on the TV in front of us at the bar! Stop by and you won’t be the least sorry. Solid place all the time.

Is there a new chef and kitchen staff at Pipers? Always a favorite of the family, a menu with extensive offerings, and delicious well prepared food, today’s family lunch fell short and was a disappointment. Known for their signature luncheon quiches, several of us ordered today’s quiche Lorraine. The base was indiscernible as egg based while the topping at best seemed to be a thick creamy gloppy processed cheese. Adding to the disappointment, the item was at best lukewarm when served. Although the soup du jour, New England Chowder was described as outstanding, it was not and not even close. While it did contain clams and potatoes, it lacked flavor, was overly thickened, and included lumps of flour or something else that must have been used as a thickener. And alas, it too was barely warm when served. A personal sized pizza appeared to be a frozen pizza from a box, lacking that rustic, oven fired appearance typical of pizzas from there in the past. I brought home my leftover quiche but upon looking at it, tasting it, I immediately tossed it. In fairness perhaps another visit is warranted.

Excellent fish and chips. Large portions. I had to finish up my wife's plate and her friends also. Flaky well prepared fish. I had the shepherds pie which was also very good. Attentive service not only from our waitress but others also. Key lime cheesecake was wonderful.

The place was pretty filled when i arrived with my group. We were greated and seated immediately. The food came out quickly. The chicken parm was a very nice sized portion. The greek pizza was very flavorful. The chiptole ribs with mac and cheese was very good. The ribs were a little small but very flavorful. Server was nice. The price was very reasonable.
