Idk about the services they offer but my rating is due to how inconsistent their warehouse donation drop off hours are. It clearly says on the website that the first and third Saturday of every month are open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for warehouse drop-off. I showed up at 10:30 am on July 5th and nothing was open. I don't know if it was because of the rain or what but that would have been nice to know before I drove all the way up from South Austin with a car full of items to donate. This is now the 2nd or 3rd time I've tried showing up on the first Saturday of the month within the drop off hours only to get there and see that nothing is open and no signage is out indicate why they're not open. I try not to donate to Goodwill because of their rampant issues, but at least I know Goodwill donation is always going to be open when they say they're going to be open.

A huge part of what makes this place special is the volunteer program. With about 500 members, it’s robust and vital to our success. These volunteers are passionate, hardworking, and instrumental in making a real difference for the kids here. One of my favorite moments at The Settlement Home is honor roll day. Celebrating the kids’ academic achievements and seeing how much they’re improving in school is a highlight. It’s a tangible reminder of the positive impact this organization has on their lives. We fostered and adopted our three children through Settlement Home. It’s been a wild ride and we’re so glad they were with us along the way. We had excellent pre-service training and met other foster families that we still keep in touch with. Our Settlement Home case manager was with us 100% of the way and especially during difficult times. They made the foster/adoption process as clear and smooth as it could be, given the complexity of each case. We’ve also used them for post-adoption services for our kids and have been very satisfied.
