Had my 1st freebie class last night. Took boxing with Jordan. Great class. Got my heart rate up. I'm so out of shape. Jordan was very encouraging and motivating. I've gone to over 150 classes at Trufusion over the last six months. I started when they had select free yoga classes in the Fall and then I got a membership and just kept coming - I love this studio! If you want to try it, the first class is free and you can also keep an eye out for random free classes on the MindBody app or Eventbrite. Like any studio environment, there is a lot of variation among instructors (style, pace, communication, challenge level). Not all of the instructors are my jam, but my schedule is flexible and I have found many I really like. I have sampled a bunch of classes but primarily attend hot power yoga, hot pilates and hot barefoot bootcamp classes. Here are my thoughts on classes: • Hot power yoga: I have a long yoga history and some of the instructors at Trufusion are fantastic. Many of my favorites only teach once a week, though, so my somewhat flexible schedule is clutch here. I like challenging classes that include unusual poses or pose combinations and not too much repetition within the class or week over week. • Signature Series Yoga: this is the same sequence of poses every time you take the class. I took it twice and found it really boring. Possibly nice for beginners. • Hot pilates: depends a lot on the instructor, but I really love many of the pilates classes - they flow from sequence to sequence like yoga. There are two versions of pilates class, HIIT Pilates and Mat Pilates. The former includes cardio, the latter doesn't. I prefer mat pilates, the cardio sequences disrupt the flow, but I choose based on instructor and schedule. • Barefoot bootcamp: this mat-based class is part lifting class using kettlebells and weights, but also has some pilates elements. Again, this one flows from move to move in a way I enjoy. Some instructors are more challenging than others, but with this class you can use heavier weights to compensate if the class is easier. • Barre: sadly, not my favorite at Trufusion, but I still attend classes occasionally when they work best with my schedule. All of the instructors seem to have the same barre style which mostly ignores the music. This isn’t like barre at other studios, where music is paired with movement and it feels like dance - at Trufusion it is long barre-style sequences with music vaguely in the background. These classes are very popular and often full, though, so many people enjoy them. • Circuit classes: over 45 minutes you rotate among 6 stations, doing 5 minutes of exercise at each station. I have gone to two of these - it isn’t my favorite style of class, but good exercise. And some thoughts on the studio generally -- Pros: • Plenty of parking, also just off the Burke Gilman if you bike • You can cancel without penalty up to 4 hours before a class • The lockers are incredibly easy to use and located right outside the classrooms (detouring to the locker room can be so annoying at other gyms) • The studio cleans gym equipment like weights, blocks and kettlebells • Nice locker room Cons: • All of the classes except yoga are WAY too loud - music blasting, instructor on a microphone. I wear concert earplugs in all of them * Traffic in the 3 blocks around the studio is totally jammed at the rush hours - it can take 10 minutes to go 3 blocks * You need to bring your own mat and mat towel, or rent, and rentals are expensive * On Saturday and Sunday there are only morning classes - I would love some afternoon options and a Sunday evening option * Morning classes during the week are either at 6:30AM or 8AM (or later). My schedule is flexible at the moment, but eventually I expect I'll need 7 or 7:30 classes somewhere else * There is no fob or card to scan in for your classes, the front desk staff learn your face/name and check you in for class. If you have a common name like me, double check your check-ins! * At popular times of day, classes are packed - this studio is not for the claustrophobic

There is nothing else like Tru Fusion!!! Hot Pilates, Yoga, or Bootcamp will push you to your edge! Valerie puts together some unique moves with the slightest adjustments like a ball or block that will completely kick it! The instructors are always putting together new moves and classes to keep it fresh.
